Installation tips?

I just followed instruction given in repair manuals and it worked great.

Just as curiosity; once the camera is turned on in adjustment mode, the only way to turn it off is removing the battery (i guess the safest method would be to use it with AC adapter which i don't have). Turning the on off button does nothing; the camera is on all the time.

If one were to connect their camera are you using the usb cable that came with it?

OK will pull mine out.

I ordered the CG incase there may be something else on it.

Would this program be able to tell if your camera has had first black frame problems?

I dont know but it was interseting when I got mine just back for FSB first shot black. They reflashed the camera and did nothing in accordance to the part replacement in the manual.

Also, when I got the camera, it was completely dead and I nad to re enter all date and time stuff, like it was new.

This may not really mean though.

Yes. USB that came with the camera is ok.

You only need to follow instruction provided ni repair manual on how to turn your camera in adjustment mode. After you turn on your camera in this mode windows may ask you for drivers. Use those as provided in USB2 folder (driver is different from the generic one used for dimage transfer for example)

Be sure to use either AC adapter of fully charged batteries !!

This info should be available for 5D AFAIK, at least this is what 5D repair manual is stating; LOG button in missing when i connect my 7D (as do missing other options described in 5D manual) It is my guess (and my guess only), that KM did changed a lot with 5D to make easier any service.

Not sure since this is new territory for all.

You probably need to list your steps so that all who have begun to look at this and have done it may be able to advise.

Remember this is at your risk stuff.

I just wish I had this prior to sending mine in to see if they made any changes that Phil at KM had done.

Darn!

I was put the uusbd.dll” into System32 directory, connect yhe usb cable and put ON camera. Open the KMdsc_cs.exe and choose 2181 # and click on Start. A blue message said "Camera control number. Read out is executing" follow the red error message "Camera control No. Read-out has not completed
Error Code:0x00C10000 ".

Hello Marc and wellcome to Dyxum.
Did you start your camera in the "adjustment mode", as in the Service Manual? (the frame counter should be BBBB)
