That's it, exactly: e.g. the Minolta XE-1 only supported A and M modes with MC lenses whereas a Minolta XD-7 offered S and P modes with MD lenses as well.

So MC and MD lenses have the same (SR-) mount, but they offer a different spectrum of functionality. A MC lens on a MD body only gives you A and M mode.

I jumped from Pentax Land, and I only own AF Minolta. So I don't actually know a lot on pre-AF Minolta stuff.

Can we start a generic thread in this non-native section for projection lenses ?
I have several of them, but find it hard to give the pictures a good place (or it will all be open views).

As an alternative, a Themed Thread could do as well obviously. I leave it up to the mods.
