Even better, a garbage compactor bag. They are much thicker and don't easily tear or puncture when you put them down on the ground.

Stuck filters or hoods? With this jar opener you get a very even and good grip.

Hmmm, the jar opener looks like a great idea. I picked up a somewhat over-designed remover and its great! Since I use nothing but B+W brass filters it's unlikely I'll ever need it, but I was bored so I bought it. It was 16-bucks and hardly worth shipping it back. It states it's for a 77mm although it would easily work on anything smaller - just not in the same manner as designed. It's small enough to fit in my ThinkTank so I'm good.

Insomuch as adding to the thread, I don't currently have any 'cheap' accessories. I tend to go off the deep end with gear and that isn't always a healthy thing'.

A walk-around lens that doubles as a coffee cup comes in handy!

I think my smartphone has become my most indispensable little accessory. In addition to the standard stuff of phone, email, browser, GPS, etc., my phone, with the addition of a few apps, does the following:

Voice Recorder for taking notes in the field.
Camera and accessory manuals. I have pdfs of my manuals, including Gary Friedman's a77 book, on my phone.
Incident light meter, using Bee Cam Lightmeter
Sunrise/Sunset calculator
Flashlight
Compass
Misc. photo calculations and conversions using CamCalc
Mobile portfolio using Google+ and Gallery

Beanbag; made from a $2 neoprene pencil case and filled with rice. Awesome for out of car window shooting. If you loose it, no big deal. If you get hungry, boil its contents :D

Stepping rings; buy all your filters in the biggest size you'll need, use them on every lens you have. My set goes from 49mm up 72mm, for $17.

Crumpler neckstrap.. if you're still using the stock straps you dont know what you're missing. Heavy lens arent such a burden when the weights evenly distributed with a softly padded neoprene strap

I stick a couple of these in my bag. They come in handy for pulling back stray branches from the frame or stabilizing flowers on windy days.

I cut the handle off a 25mm (1 inch) cheap paintbrush leaving about 25mm stub,, drilled a hole in it, sanded down all the rough edges, put a split ring through the hole and clip it to a carabiner on my camera bag. I use it to brush any sand or dust etc off the camera body. I previously used a soft toothbrush but that was really too small, the paintbrush is fine. Then the Lenspen , a blower and a microfibre cloth for the lenses

Why is the spell check on here all American spelling?
