As some may have read in this thread, Precision is now doing Infrared modifications of A-mount cameras.

I sent off my new-to-me A100 on Monday 6/1 (Next-Day USPS) and got it back today 6/9. Awesome!! The price was $249 + S&H which is much lower than anyone else converting any cameras that I have seen. So far I have just taken it for a quick spin in the yard, but I hope to take it around some more tomorrow. Before I had 30 second shutter speeds, now I have 1/160 f/9 easily at ISO 100! I'll be sure to post photos!

Thanks again to Mark Soares from Precision!!

I am just running around my front and back yards now with various lenses. It was calibrated to the 28-75 f/2.8, but it seems the AF is doing very well with my 16-35Z, 24-70Z and I even tossed on the 16mm fisheye and 135Z. I am having a blast with it!

Downloading to my personal laptop now. (Posting from my work machine)

*So far they need some work, but that is just because my exposure is all over the place. I am batch processing them to show exactly what they look like in cam, then I'll try editing a couple.

I'll be very interested to see how the results compare with my Olympus C2100 and Hoya R72 combination. Here's one I took yesterday...

Wow, that's pretty impressive Alan!

thanks Mark :)

I think this would be too expensive for me, but the results frm Alan's filter seem like a good option too.

I used my A700 with the R72 with good results, but the 30s exposures bugged me on windy days. My A900 is terrible for IR and 30 second exposures showed no trace of IR. The IR blocking filter must be stronger on the A900.

I wonder what the results would be if you hooked it up to a telescope and did some deep sky work with it.

Too soon in the year, but........if you get the chance in the fall.....try the Orion Nebula.....aka M42.

Okay, lets try posting some of the decent ones. Bear in mind these are all unedited, straight from camera with custom WB. All were Aperature Priority with some tinkering with +ev steps. Once I get a better feel for it I think I'll be switching to manual. The histogram is your friend!

wow! Thanks mark! I see your point on the long exposure. The 'real deal' definately seems worth it. I will have to get one of these one day! Looking at the 'effect'/'tones' in #4, the potential seems enormous. Very surreal effect indeed, I love it. Good luck with some 'real shooting' scenarios, I hope it goes well and look foward to seeing the results/your thoughts on the conversion if you get time to :)

Actually I am Keith. I was thanking Mark from Precision. hehe

There is a lot of green around the 'campus' where I work so I really hope to fire off some good shots tomorrow at lunch. I have to spend some time editing to get a good feel of the differences in post processing for modded vs unmodded, but I am really loving this thing. I never thought I'd see the day when I had a modified IR A-mount.
