Interesting Minolta Auto Press Film Camera

As a film user, I'm always looking for collectibles but also useables.

I've always liked the Plaubel Makina compact medium format camera with it's Nikkor lens but seeing this has me drooling for a Minolta version of that style of medium format camera.

That seems to be an almost identical copy of the older Plaubel Makinas (I - III) - but be aware that it does not accept 120 film! It was introduced in 1937 (the Makina I in 1933). You need a film back for this one (the most usual way to make it work). I am not sure whether a Graflok film back will fit, though. BTW: It also seems to be heavily overpriced.

This is definitely no match with the Makina 67 or 67W with their excellent Nikkor lenses (nor is it a match with the Voigtlander Bessa III or its sibling, the Fujifilm GF670).

A compact, affordable MF camera has become a rare thing, I suspect.

Oh I wasn't considering a purchase. I'm all too well aware of it's limitations. If I was collecting purely ornamental cameras, I might have had more interest. However, I only collect cameras I can shoot with.

My Fujica G690 rangefinder might be a beast of a camera but, with 50mm, 65mm, 100mm and 180mm Fujinon lenses; it's a superb system and the std MF film camera I reach for most often.

What about the Fuji GS645?

My Fuji GW690 is compact compared to the huge film size it has!

If I went down the 645 route, it would be the wide option GSW. However, as the 50mm lens on my G690 is already roughly equivalent to 21mm on 35mm; I already have the wide MF that I like.

For wider views, I use my Widepan Pro II 140 (140 degree coverage) for a 6x12 neg using a Tessar 50mm. Another of my favourites: photo attached
