I now have bought no new lenses for 12 months.
My last purchase was on this day, last year (during the Auckland lockdown). My Batis 135/2.8 (used). I've beaten my impulse to collect more lenses. |

GAS addicts can only stop but never quit!
Congrats on the restraint. It's time to treat yourself to something nice to reward yourself! |

@Mambo - thank you. There were a few temptations along the way but in the end, I got there. There's been a few Batis 18mm and 25mm that have turned up used that have made me ponder my resolve.
@skm.sa100 - oh, those words are so true. I think I can reward myself with something a little less photographic |

Congratulations!!!
Well done!! I am at 7 months and suffer from some GAS withdrawal. It is hard, I have some good excuses to look at a normal zoom and a 40mm prime. 40mm: It fills the gap between my 20mm and 85mm for a three lens (20/40/85mm) set-up. It fills the gap between my 28mm and 55mm for a six lens (20/28/40/55/85/135mm) set-up. Thankfully I cannot decide between the Sony 40/2.5 and the Voigtländer 40/1.2 Normal zoom: It is a lazy convenience lens to me and I was using my Canon 24-70/4L with Sigma MC-11 as my to-go normal zoom. But that combination focusses fine but not great and I noticed some shutter lag. So, I need something native... Thankfully there is no clear answer which native normal zoom fits me best Anyway, I doubt I will resist - if the price is right I probably buy a new lens before the year is out. That is why I am impressed. Well done! |

... and if we're bragging about being able to stay strong, I'm still on the A-mount.
Try beating that, kiddos!! |

Well done, but if I bought a Batis lens -- any Batis lens -- I wouldn't buy another lens for a year, either. Not because I wouldn't want to -- but because I couldn't.

One is always subject to the temptation of GAS Addy, yeah.
Especially when something turns up at a really good price. There's been a few times something has turned up that would have filled the gap between my 21mm and 35mm lenses that have made me rethink my resolve. But I never felt I really needed it for my shooting. It looks like you have a few gaps to tempt you too. I confess I did get a used a9 earlier this year @Harm vb, so it's just the lenses I have been resisting. But I love that camera and its let me get a lot of wildlife and bird shots I couldn't have got otherwise. SO I'm ok with this expense. I don't think I will be getting any new cameras for a while. |

If you are looking for a 40mm, Adorama has the Sigma 45mm F2.8 on sale this weekend for $229 with free shipping. The Sigma is rather wide for a "45mm".
I'd also like a native 24-70mm F4. The ZA is a nice size. I'd prefer the G treatment. The Tamron 20-40 F2.8 looks interesting. The collapsing 28-60 kit zoom is alright. I haven't considered that Canon. I have their 22-55 USM APS kit zoom. Edited by QuietOC - 02 September 2022 at 23:25 |

A praise-worthy achievement, but have you resisted the lure of the wonderful used A-mount lenses now available for sale? There's a lot more of the rarer, classic lenses around now. |

Ah, a good point. I do only have two and got both used. The 135/2.8 usually retails here for $NZ3299, but I got it used for $NZ1,450. The 85/1.8 goes new for $NZ1,995, but I got it used for $NZ1,100. They're both excellent lenses. |

However, Adorama does not ship to the EU anymore for some reason. Bought some in the past, but they don't do it anymore. They ship to war torn Yemen, but not to The Netherlands |
