I ordered the A6700.

For some time I was looking for a (dedicated) video camera. At first I was looking at the ZV-E1, but it doesn't have IBIS or Cinetone and is really old technology. So, ZV-E10 II - still no IBIS but improved digital IS - however 33% crop. I feel the A6700 is the better video camera - with most of the capabilities of the ZV-E1.

I looked at Canon as I have the lenses, but they don't have cheaper video focused cameras like Sony. The R8 has no IBIS and cameras that doe have this weird IBIS wobble.

Looked at the Panasonic Lumix S9 but saw that I can get the Lumix S5 II new for €100,- less I decided against the Panasonics because I need lenses pushing the purchase passed the ZV-E1 in price.

Got a nice deal on the A6700. Hope I will use it for video as intended....

The a6700 looks like a great APS-C camera @Addy, and has some features the a6600 missed out on. It's a more compelling purchase. And its video functions are superb.
It'll be interesting to find out how it compares to your a6400.

I'm still avoiding any major photography purchases .
Now into day 4 of new house and the pile of boxes to unpack is diminishing...

I got to handle ZV-E10 II yesterday (no real usage though) and it looked quite nice and compact, but I guess α6700 is also good choice and at least it has some sort of viewfinder.

And no new purchases here, although I did ask a non-binding quote for Sony FE 2.8/300 GM OSS...

I found a deal on an A7 IV (brand new in sealed box) for 1851€ thru Art&Craft - this morning the offer was still available, now it's up to 2020 €'s (there still is a 400€ rebate from Sony without the cashback hassle).

It seems there was one today for 1730€ on cameranu.be well hidden though... (still available)

this is the link
https://www.cameranu.be/nl/p3241204/sony-alpha-a7-iv-systeemcamera-body-zwart

I do believe it's too early for this kind of discounts - but anyway - i took the offer (i first found one for 1899€'s at cameranu.be and they even lowered their prices). Thru cameranu.nl it's the full price - 400€'s though.
We also see an odd reduction of 2nd hand A7 IV's (around 1600€) thru resellers as cameraexpress.

Bravo Wētāpunga! I don't envy the move -- hope I never have to do that again. But I'm sure the new house is well worth it!

My partner was recently surprised that I haven't been talking about a new camera for 2 years, since I bought my A7iv.

Getting time for a new search, or not??

It's a very capable camera and if the price is tempting, well, I can see why you bought one.
How long has it been since your previous camera purchase?

My last buy was an A7III in 2020
(in between i bought some extra glass too - a 24-240, 24-105, 55 f1.8, sigma 105 macro a-mount f2.8... most second hand - some new).

Maybe i'll sell my Samyang 24 and 35 f2.8's and exchange those for the 1.8 or swap them for the tamrons (something for in 2025 i assume - because i'll have to fix the electrical wiring in my home - a big renovation indeed).

The new house feels like its well worth it. Kid 3 is already thrilled by the native birds (and even creepy crawlies) that abound. We just still have 1/2 a garage of boxes to finish unpacking and figuring out where to put stuff.

Once we're settled in, I think I can get back into the photography.

Hmm, well the a7iv is a pretty good camera. Is there anything about it that is holding you back from taking the photos you want?

To be honest, the A7iii works better for me than the A7iv.

There is actually no need for another camera to replace one of these. I guess the search and hunt are more fun than having the A7Riv.

The answer is: nothing.

Well I suppose, space permitting, setting up some kind of "digital darkroom" would be in order? It sounds like there are natural wonders there, fun for the children, but also possible photo subjects. Creepy crawlies as in "Boris the Spider"?

Finally caved in and added to the photography kit

Work was throwing out some storage bags for our showroom display stands, taking one look at what was going in the bin my mind instantly went "oh, that would make a great tripod bag".
So I'm now the happy owner of 2 tripod storage bags with carry handles and shoulder straps...one with my tripod inside the second holding a monopod and camping seat.
