Judging for "Landscapes"

I am going to vote for the first time, as this comp. has some excellent entries and I would like to briefly make some comment. Boy it has been hard, but what I have focussed on are those little imperfections and distractions that sometimes turn a really top shot into one that at the end of the day doesn't quite deserve the sash.
Somewhere in Spain -- those little figures on the beach? and just a little bland overall
Silent with mist -- there one 'stray' bit of orange foliage that shows up against the tree on the left (but this shot remained high on my list until the last)
Dancing Trees -- the low lying buildings on the right ended up irritating me as they rob a little of the "isolation"
Lost in the Wave -- some have commented on the central figure... well I think it adds a touch of whimsy to the whole scene as the figure is dwarfed by the magnificence of the formation
Lake Barra -- there's a little bit of a tree showing in the foreground at the bottom right that could do with editing to retain the more distant curves of the shore and eventualy the colours are just a shade too muted (I blame nature, not the photographer)
Yellowstone Falls -- has great "mood" but I am left wondering what I am not seeing -- have I missed a bit of the drama?
Dolomites into the Clouds -- I became fixated by that bit of untidy path on the left and wondered what would it be like if you had taken a few steps sideways (again a shot that remained high on my list)

And now for a decision after all that talk

Once again, brettania has done a first step in something I hope we may see more often: commenting each image, with subjective but very opened observations. IMHO something that may make our little competition forum even more valuable.
