Couple alternatives that I considered for today's picture...

Red elderberries

α99 II + Sigma EX 150 mm 1:2.8 APO Macro DG HSM OS @ 150 mm, f/9, 1/320 s, ISO 3200

Lesser marbled fritillary (Brenthis ino)

α99 II + Sigma EX 150 mm 1:2.8 APO Macro DG HSM OS @ 150 mm, f/6.3, 1/250 s, ISO 250

The main colour of the butterfly is sure orange (and even reddish shade), but is there too much other colours? And is that purple(?) of the thistle something you can classify under red?

And I somehow had forgotten these alternatives before I posted the batch of today's pictures (am I getting old?).

Couple of seven-spotted ladybugs

α99 II + Sigma EX 150 mm 1:2.8 APO Macro DG HSM OS @ 150 mm, f/9, 1/320 s, ISO 800

Too much other colours than red I think...

And then this bizarre case: under which colour theme you would classify this?

Colourful leaves

α99 II + Sigma EX 150 mm 1:2.8 APO Macro DG HSM OS @ 150 mm, f/6.3, 1/200 s, ISO 1250

I almost thought I had to skip another day due to torrential rainshowers passing the whole day, but there was a short 15 min dry spell that let me walk outside and find a few yellows (july 15)

Thursday, 15 July - Yellow day.

Spoilt for choice today.

Handrail (with a hint of red).

Quite surprised to find these useful containers in yellow (red round our way).

Living by the sea seems to bring out the colours.

Yellow you say.

One small step for a man, one insignificant step for mankind.

Few alternatives for the yellow/brown theme...

Big owl

α7R IV + Voigtländer Nokton 40 mm F1.2 @ 40 mm, f/2, 1/100 s, ISO 500

Little background: I did set myself an additional challenge that I should try to find the subjects from the nature, but today I was little unsure whether I manage to get a proper nature photo with yellow/brown, so I wanted a backup picture. And why the door stopper owl? Because I did have one idea for a brown photo subject: there is an eagle owl residing in Viikki and it has often been hiding in a barn in middle of the fields, where it will depart after the sundown. But as expected since we are dealing with wild animals and sunset/dawn hours, this was not guaranteed photo opportunity and I didn't see the owl at all during the couple hours I spent waiting next to the barn.

During the wait I did take few photos of other subjects (including the grass I chose as my main entry).

Some fields looked bit yellow...

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 1250

Earlier in the day, I had some business in Vantaa and while waiting for the bus back home, I found one suitable photo subject...

Potentilla sp.?

α7R III + Sony FE 2.8/90 Macro G OSS @ 90 mm, f/6.3, 1/250 s, ISO 3200
