Musk beetle (Aromia moschata) may look quite black...

...but it is actually more like dark, metallic violet on the back side

Today I had quite a lot of options to choose from...

1. Silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis paphia)

α7R III + LAOWA 15 mm F4 Wide Macro 1:1 @ 15 mm, f/11?, 1/400 s, ISO 320

2. Silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis paphia)

α7R III + LAOWA 15 mm F4 Wide Macro 1:1 @ 15 mm, f/11?, 1/400 s, ISO 800

These pictures as whole are quite colourful, but the butterfly does not have that many colours...

3. Map (Araschnia levana)

α99 II + Sigma EX 150 mm 1:2.8 APO Macro DG HSM OS @ 150 mm, f/7.1, 1/320 s, ISO 640

This is butterfly (and this is its second generation, which looks different to the first generation that flies in the spring) is slightly more colourful, but the colours are not quite flashy enough in my humble opinion.

4. Southern hawker (Aeshna cyanea)

α7R IV + Sony FE 5.6-6.3/200-600 G OSS + 1.4× TC @ 840 mm, f/9, 1/640 s, ISO 3200

Here we do have colours, but perfectionist in me is not quite happy with this, so it got only second place today...
