Walked into town this morning and noticed a new cafe had opened. Lining up to take a shot, hopefully without any passers-by, something happened that was not exactly normal...

I have no idea who the chap is.

All A99ii, Sony 28mm f2.8

Day 5 outtakes. I had to take the car to Abergele for a service so took the opportunity to visit Gwrych Castle, a half hour walk from the garage. It'a a Grade I listed country house and one of the first attempts at replicating true medieval architecture in Europe. It stands in 250 acres of gardens and grounds and has extensive views over former parkland including a deer park and the Irish Sea.

The Castle was built between 1812 and 1822 by Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh.

The castle is a ruin in process of restoration so only a few parts of the interior are open to the public.

The reality tv programme "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" was filmed in the castle for two years when covid prevented use of the usual Australian setting. Some of the rooms and artefacts were on display.

I still had lots of time to kill so walked along the coast to Rhyl, not the most attractive of seaside walks with a long sandy beach on my left while the railway, chalets and caravan parks are on the landward side.

Sea defences. You have to climb on the rocks to make pointless squiggles on the notice

Amusement arcade in Rhyl, where I caught a bus back to Abergele.
