A while back I met some kayakers playing in some big waves... pretty sure I posted some. Anyways, as I often do, I connected with them and they promised to keep me in the loop when they are chasing waves. I have not been able to make it out until this past Friday - I was off work, and my wife was at work. (a necessary alilgnment ) On this trip, I also met a couple surfers - that I have also connected with.

Here are my picks from the day - it was tough deciding!

All shot with my A99ii + Minolta 400/4.5 + 1.4X TC with the exception of the last which I shot with my 300/2.8. I could have used longer for the kayakers.

They were out on the water when I arrived very sleepy in the AM. (I work till midnight and it was a 1.5 hour drive)

Happily, the light was great when I got there. :)

3. This eagle did a flyby and of course I had to snap a couple - first of the two was bang on. There were a couple juveniles too, but they did not come close enough.

At this point, my kayaker friends called it a morning, and I switched to shooting the two surfers, Lucas and his GF. (I don't think I got her name - though I will likely hear from them as I have sent them a bunch of pics)

18. Its a beautiful drive, often right on the coast. This was a view on the way back that appealed. Probably Olympics again.... though I have no idea where exactly.

Thanks for looking

Very best regards

Mike

I like number one the best. The yellow against that backdrop is very appealing to me. Tfs

I like no. 10. Colours really 'pop'.

The surfers have hoods on :), must be freezing!

The water where I live is cold and wet suits are used by most, but I've never seen them with hoods on like these brave souls.

Wonderful set of images, Mike - a lot of action, but I don't want to think about temperatures. I definitely would prefer sea-kayaking in a peaceful laguna of warm waters!

#10 and particularly #7 are outstanding in the set - great catches!

But I must say that my secret favorite is #13 - that gasping look of her face is invaluable! This is not the frosting on the cake, this is the cake!

Great pleasure to view, thank you for sharing!

The eagle, the scenary and then the kayak's - i nearly felt the cold water... Brrr.
A nice series, well composed, nice light. A joy to look at.

I'm biased so #3 - the eagle (it's the same as with steam trains - the eagle or the train always wins). The landscape at the end shows how nice this place is.

thank you for sharing those images with us.

Thanks much all for your comments, faves and insights! Much appreciated!

Yes... that water was COLD. I would hazard a guess in the very low single digits Celcius. haha. Air temp was about 7C... but with the wind coming off the water it seemed much colder though with the sun it was lovely.

Very best regards

Mike
