Once again, I was on the same spot as Joseph

Sony A900 | Minolta 50/1.4 | f/9 | 1/400s | 320iso

And as you can see from my picture the colours are about right.

Although when I was there I don't recall the colors to be that dull

One looks like it was shot on high contrast slide film and the other on std color neg film

These plants can reach astonishing ages. They grow very slowly and a metre wide one might already be 1,000 years old.
