I've been trying to find other parts of the coast that can produce good seascape images after the damage from Cyclone Gabrielle cut off access to my favourite beaches.

Today was Haruhi Bay, but the light conditions were not kind. It had to be a black-and-white shoot.
(I also wanted to give my new Kate magnetic filters a try out on the Sony 24-105.4).

Haruhi Bay

Sony a7Riii with 24-105/G, Kase ND filter. Stacked in Helicon Focus 8

This image was created with 22 stacked images at different focal distances, to create an image that was detailed from foreground to back.
A 10-stop filter slowed the shutter speed to 10s per shot, so I did not have to worry about wave motion. I did have to worry about some boats traversing the channel. So I combined two images in Pixelmator Pro. One was the stacked image, one was a shot with the background in focus. Then I used the eraser tool to replace the top quarter of the stacked image, with the regular shot. Which removed the very long smears caused by boats traversing the scene.

The Kase filters worked well, with no colour casts that can occur in 10-stop filters. Their magnetic nature made them very easy to use in field.

A strange yellow/greenish mood, but it suits the scene well. TFS Domien

Longtime no see! I have not had much time for photography recently, but last week I was in Iceland (to see 4 Wilco concert in three days ) and brought my camera. Got this one of Gullfoss when I did a one day "Golde Circle" tour. It was so windy I nearly blew off of the cliffs...
The slow shutterspeed is created by a median filter in photshop on a stack of images from hand held shots
