Impressions from Winter Lantern Festival at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanic Garden, Staten Island, New York. Everything is a balloon / Chinese Lantern.
Minolta 28-135 with EA4 adapter on a7ii, wide is Samyang (mine says Rokinon) 12/2 on nex3 I use prime lenses, but mechanical zooms are good for zooming swishes, which often look "better" than the swish of pan/tilt. The technique is 1-2 seconds, hold for the first second, then zoom. I used the 28-85 the other day and the tele was a little short, the Secret Handshake has a good zoom range for the technique. 1 The Landscape ![]() 2 Reflected ![]() artificial reflection in TheGIMP with Wave and Ripple effect 3 Flapping Flamingo ![]() 4 Audrey Two ![]() 5 PLanterns ![]() 6 Don't Go In There ![]() 7 Flyby ![]() 8 Apparently Little Yellow Birds Control the Space-Time Continuum ![]() 9 Swinging Landscape ![]() Howard_S started a Telephone Boxes thread, I'm surprised we didn't already have one! The Fearless Girl statue's permit has expired, and the company sponsoring it is in litigation with the Artist (and the company was convicted of discrimination and false billing). A ruling on the statue's fate is expected next week. 11 Fearless Girl's Future is Uncertain ![]() 28-135 at 28mm with Macro engaged (MFD is five feet / almost two meters!) f5.6 12 Fearless Girl Eyes Her Future ![]() 12/2 at f5.6 |

Great set, and your Bon Mot footer is very apt.
I particularly like the zoom during exposure shots. Especially ## 4, 6 and 8. Great to see. |

Well done. For a minute, I thought the doctor was going to the Tardis (on #6, but the hair is a bit long). Then I saw the time dilation in #7 and I'm not sure now.
