Following on with my short trip in the Vorarlberg province in Austria: Lech

Previous stops were
Rankweil

Feldkirch

Lech is mostly known as place for winter sport , at least in the Netherlands since it has been the place where the royal family spend ski vacation for many years.

L1 Underway to Lech

L2 View from the rescue helicopter platform between Zurs and Lech

L3 View from the village Lech on river Lech and the Omeshorn

L4 Enjoying the view on top of the Rüfikopf bergstation

L5 In-camera wide panorama from that place

L6 Hikers in the last snow

L7 Door

L8 Some more BW

L9

L10

L11 Hiking

L12 Moving down with the kabel car again

L13 Tunnelview

L14 Statue in Oberlech

So far for Lech.
Thanks for your patience
Only one more town to go from this tour:-)

Beautiful Fred, you have caught some lovely scenery here. Nr 4 is lovely, 9 a great b&w and 11 great use of the rule of thirds

Thank you, Fred, for showing us images from winter 2030!

I particularly like the abstract character of L8. And I think it was the right decision of Lech, Zuers and other similar communities - after winter sports ended completely due to climate warming - to invest in Surrealism, #7 and #14 are great examples that show how tourism can survive. There will be snow, again, somewhere in the future (reliable predictions see the revitalization of winter sports in the 2080s!). Till this happens your images show why tourists will come.

BTW: #7 is really my absolute favorite in the set! Good work!

Thanks for sharing these Fred. It's spectacular scenery and your images are a joy to view. In black and white my favourite is L9 and in colour L11.
C & C always welcome

Thanks all for the kind comments!

@ angora: Indeed #4 in BW was nicer, but I felt the colour would suit in this set.

For ## 4-11 we went with the cable car to the top (> 2300m).
#14 was at the other side of the river where we drove up a bit.

@ waldo_posth: Didn't mean to start the climate debate here , but if things change, it is still a great place for hiking as well.

Ok.. you have done it now.. I want to go to Austria again..
Seeing the alps makes me realize I have not seen them in a very long time.

The pictures are very nice, it was a joy to look through.

Thanks Aavo! It was quite a challenge to get a nice picture without a too disturbing background and still show the 'floating' chest.

Well, you have a point here Ine! , prices are 'royal'!!

Since we were there, we decided we should have 'apfelstrudle'.
My daughter knew you could have that in Oberlech near the statue L14. (she worked as a fysio therapist in this region last winter).

Still it was a challenge to find, since many hotel/restaurants were closed in summer. We found one open, ordered and enjoyed two coffee, one tea and three apfelstrudle on a terrace. The bill was only 40 euro

The view was nice though...

Great series of photos Fred!

So many nice ones it is had to pick a favorite! I like L10 for the depth the plant in the foreground gives, but they are all super!
Makes me a little homesick. We won't be making our annual vacation in Südtirol this year! And Budapest is a city I hope to visit some day.

Kind regards,

Kelly
