I did not realize that anyone else isolated lenses until cleaned and inspected.
With exception of the 1980s era purchase of a used Minolta 24mm MD lens and an early 1990s used Kiev Zodiak 30mm Fisheye at a camera show, my lenses were all purchased as factory new production in camera stores.
As film camera production ended decades ago, I have been forced to buy used.
I normally isolate used lenses and cameras until I could clean and inspect them.
One dirty 30mm Bronica lens purchased from Shopgoodwill does have fungus near the faulty outer seal and I need to either buy or make tools to disassemble the front elements.
I cleaned the accessible outer case and glass optics, but the lens is sealed in a bag with a moisture absorbent packet and isolated from my other camera gear.
The comments warning about fungus ended my interest in the old tubular lens cases as I also find them inconvenient for field use,
Until I acquire a larger hard-shell case designed for photo equipment, I will continue to use the modified IPA containers with a moisture absorbent packet for indoor storge.
