Domien, regardless of the filter type there always is a risk of dropping it during handling. Don't worry too much, actually the Kase clip-in filter is straight forward to install IMO and I don't hesitate to change it in the field. You only need to make sure not to touch the rear side (inner side towards camera sensor) and that it's dust free like any other filter, too. Of course to get familiar with the handling of the clip-in filter, it is advisable to first practice at home (in a more safe surrounding) ![]()
Here's another link to the EU Kase site. Funnily I haven't found any available IR-Filter on their website yet, only ND filters ![]()
The ND1000 (ND3.0/10 stops) filter doesn't produce any colour cast/tint or degarde the image quality (used on old first gen a7 as well as latest a7RIVa).
All the various camera clip-in filters (Kase, Astronomik) I have seen so far always were for full-frame E-mount cameras (FE-mount), seems there are none available for A-mount or APS-C E-mount (yet?!). |

As part of the day with Gill Moon for a land/seascape workshop on the Suffolk coast last week, we went to Sizewell and, turning our backs to the nuclear power station I experimented with long exposures of a couple of old structures out to sea:

Good try Harm! My experience is the same with shuttertimes for windmills.
