The annual light art festival Lux Helsinki took part already earlier this month and this year the artworks were located in three districts (+ few extras at some other locations).

First area for art works was the city centre:

1. Logo light

α7R IV + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 100

2. Maxim Velčovský (CZE) – The Physical Possibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living

α7R IV + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 400

3. These artworks were made from wrecked cars from Ukraine

α7R IV + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 1250

4. With some additional lights (and smoke generators)

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 1250

5. Thought-provoking art

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 4000

The rest of the artworks were not quite as shocking...

6. Collectif Coin (FRA) – Abstract

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 1000

7. Pitaya (FRA) – Whale Ghost

α7R III + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/2.8, 1/60 s, ISO 6400

8. The park around Töölö bay had got colourful lighting

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 2500

9. Pitaya (FRA) – L’Envol

α7R III + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/2.2, 1/60 s, ISO 1600

10. These "migratory birds" were in several trees in Hesperia park

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 2500

11. More in that direction

α7R III + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/2.2, 1/60 s, ISO 5000

12. Yle: Mauri Ahola – Teemu Kokkonen (FIN) – The Face of the City

α7R III + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/2.2, 1/60 s, ISO 1000

This projection combined some old film footage and newer video material.

Second area with several artworks was at Suvilahti, around the complex of old power plant and gas works.

13. Kotryna Čalkaitė (LTU) – Quietly Speaking Colors

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2.8, 1/50 s, ISO 250

14. Romain Tardy (FRA) – The Great Indecision Council

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 3500

15. The frames showed and attached speakers read out frequently used search terms in Google and Google News

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 5000

Some works were indoors in the boiler hall:

16. Tae Gon Kim (KOR) – The Dresses

α7R III + Sony Carl Zeiss FE 1,8/55 ZA @ 55 mm, f/5.6, 1/100 s, ISO 6400

16. Massimo Uberti (ITA) – Domus Aurea

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 160

17. Anna Burvenich (BEL) – K/NO/W/MATTER/ WHAT/EVER/WH/Y/THING

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 2500

18. There would been an interactive art work also inside the old covered gas bell, but the queue was very long (45 minute wait?), so I decided to skip it

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 5000

Thus I took metro to Ruoholahti to see the last cluster of art works...

19. Hypar Collective (NED) – Growth

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 4000

20. Pitaya (FRA) – WISP (Spark Ballet)

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 8000

(And yes, there was couple other works, but I got no proper photos of those)

And from the additional locations outside these clusters, I did check out culture centre Stoa near my home, which hosted just one artwork:

21. Timo Aho (FIN) – Breathe

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.4/24 GM @ 24 mm, f/2, 1/50 s, ISO 500

Heikki, fun to see there is a light festival in Finland too.
Some photos are slightly depressing (2,3,4,5(
Fortunately, others are uplifting
Particularly like 9 and 10
And for some of the artwork one (I) thinks (or at least hope) 'Beauty was in the creator's eye'
That's the same as in Amsterdam
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken

I think there has been similar events also elsewhere in Finland than just Helsinki, although I think Lux Helsinki is the most established one (started in 2009). And the pictures from Amsterdam Light Festival ended up being the incentive to finally post these pics as the event in Helsinki ended already 21 weeks ago.

Yep, that artwork consisting those wrecked cars from Ukraine (+ lights and smoke generators) sure brought the conflict into your eyes.

And these still photos may not even tell the whole story as often there was changing colours, movement, animation etc. in many of these artworks.
