Brettania you're confusing me! I know the mounts are the same on the 5D &7D but there seems to be a number of people in here that find the adaptor tight on the 7D and the 5D seems perfect. Jarenas and I just want to know about those who have used the adaptor on the 7D so we can buy one with confidence.

Page one of this thread lists a bunch of adapters and their sources, and also list if they are tight or loose on the 7D. With the help of others on the forum I collected the info to answer your exact questions. Links are provided to the site where you can buy 'em!
M42 lenses are great fun. Pick up one (or a few) and enjoy :) |

Not intentionally. LOL> I think that the tolerance variations in the mount are probably the same across both cameras. Some people who had just got 5Ds started reporting the same tightness with the 50 f1.7 which seems very fiddly on some 7Ds as well. |

I just placed on order the same Adaptor that you have Damien. I'd rather it be a little loose than not fit at all. Sorry Brett, didn't mean to stress ya. Will be heading to the local cash convertors to pick up all their Ziess M42 stuff and they have a box full that they are trying to sell off. Maybe there's an easy way to machine the tight adaptors so they fit the 7D.

well I took too long to respond I suppose.. I finally tested Roxsen adaptor last week with KM5D and Helios 44-2 f2 58mm. It fits ok to KM and it can focus to infinity |

If you are still taking M42 recommendations, I purchased the same russian jolos that sanjuro and dynaxdude did. I did find it snug on the 7D, but it felt very tolerable, much like my 1.4 kenko teleconverer mounts (more tight than any of my lenses). The serrated edges make it easier to grasp for removal in the counterclockwise direction, after all, they are screw lenses, and the lens doesn't help removal at all. That being said, without the serrations, I don't know how I would've gotten it off. Very light material and strong. I tested it on a Super-Takumar 50/1.4 and a 105/2.8. Both worked well and focused to infinity without problems. I would rather it be tight than have some play between lens and body.
@dynaxdude I know you have probably tried it a dozen times, but will you try it again. Maybe depress the lens release button to relieve some tension on the adapter, that might help without it feeling "forced". edited for poor spelling Edited by H20boy - 25 April 2006 at 07:00 |

For anyone who may be interested.. I have the Bower M42/Mi 7000 (made in Japan) adapter, it doesn't seem to allow focusing to infinity, tried with a S-M-C Takumar 50mm f/1.4 on Dynax 7D. I't a little tight on the 7D's bayonet, but I think this is better than having a loose adapter :)
Now I'm waiting for another adapter, according to the seller that one allows infinity focusing : link to ebay Description: Infinity Focus: Yes Glass element: No AE priority: Yes Allow Metering: AE priority, Stop-down metering TTL flash metering: Yes Also, according to the picture on the website it looks to penetrate a little little bit deeper into the camera body that the Bower adapter I have now. Let's see. |

yes, no shipping charge...
but be sure to remind the seller to declare the value in custom sticker. mine stuck in custom office because he/she declare it as gift, so i have to pick it up with copy of my payment... :( here is the comparison between it and old hama m42/mi7000 adapter. neddylo's have longer space for apperture lever which is nice, but i think the thread start rather off, so the lens distance scale didn't align in the centre. built is good, fit tighter than standard af lens, but not as thight as the hama, and neddylo's don't accomodate extraction key... left is hama, right neddylo's Edited by [nur] - 01 May 2006 at 15:59 |
