Some of the things I most want to know are best described in words.

Still not sure why I can't get a direct adaptall-to-alpha adapter or M42-alpha which operate the auto-aperture, but I've got used to manually stopping down now, or leave them stopped down and thank Sony for an EVF ...

TYSM!!! characteristics? all you'd be looking for?
like (un)sharpness, bokeh, distortion, veiling, flares?
sun stars revealing number of blades? anything?
at least, I would enjoy more pages a lot!!!

Maybe the moderators can set up a poll to see approximately how many M42 lenses are in the hands of active members. I'm guessing the number is not very large compared to other forums that have been mentioned.

What would we do differently based on the results of a poll? We know several people like to use old M42 and other mount lenses, we have an adapter and converter forum to share technical knowledge as well as a sample forum to share images taken with these lenses. There is currently no need to do away with these and there is no real desire/manpower to do more. We encourage members to post and share in these fora and angora's request was to do that as well.

And on a personal note, I have and use several M42 lenses, some were used in the last week 50 challenge and I was certainly not alone in that challenge. I'll try to do my best and start posting some samples for others to see (both from this challenge as well as from earlier use)

Mind the bandwidth of others, don't link pictures larger then 1024 wide or 960 pix high, see here

As we say: "goed voorbeeld doet goed volgen" (an good example will be followed by others) and "als er één schaap over de dam is, volgen er meer" (when one sheep crosses the dam, others will follow) - YOU need to set an example.

Just add a thread and mention it in the index thread as it can be added to the index. If there are other threads not yet mentioned in the index, mention them too in the index thread as they can also be added to the index.

The more lenses on the index, the better it is. Not just M42.....

err... said M42, but actually meant 'old lenses'. all of them.
also the ones that can't be used on A-mount.

(I own a couple of those as well, since I have my daddy's Olympus Pen FT. but can't use them -yet?-.
personal... turned to Sony because of the Minolta legacy. i.e. because we once invested (what I thought to be) a mere fortune in Minolta glass n such (at a time people usually bought all of their stuff brand new). which was def. not disappointing, but became a happy camper after the A99 was launched.
-we chose the M. 8000i, the mom it hit the shelves, because Minolta had started the 'revolution' with the 7000. even though it did not, bummer, have a DOF control option! ;-) -it would last another 2 years until the 9000 successor was launched-.

after I joined Dyxum I couldn't believe the yummy bokeh in certain pics. it was sooo beautiful! and that's when I found out about ancient glass?
and was thrilled to find I could use my very 1st lens ever, the one I dragged along throughout my teenage years, a Helios 44-2, again!!(!)
the only Rokkor here belongs to a neighbour. borrowed it for upside-down macro. with a $0.99? Chinese ring ;-)

since there are relatively few ACTIVE D. members, I think you shouldn't underestimate how 'BIG' this is. (at the corners of D. I hang out, more and more people are suffering from G.A.S. did I say disorder? know of cases in which a pricey camera arrived in order to be able to use the old stuff?
not everyone would be willing to reveal numbers, that w/b like asking a billionaire about bank accounts? ;-)
I do believe we are the 'treasure keepers'! 'we' referring to Dyxum as a whole only, unfortunally. I know I shouldn't be proud!

could be mistaken, but I think it's HUGE. and not just about 1 or 2 members. therefore actually a bit surprised there are still not too many sample pages ...yet?

and why multiple contributions also w/b appreciated... even if you own a famous lens, they come with a recipe. not everyone knowns (yet) how to make it shine. or even what magic it hides. so sharing w/b nice?
came across a forum once in which someone was devastated his new Petzval 2.0 didn't give him the swirls he had payed $$$$$$$$$$$ for. ;-)

But please, please, please, report your threads in the index thread - it is all you have to do. Not everybody knows how to use the search engine and if you just wants to browse, the index is much, much easier.

Don't be selfish, help others too!

Ahoy!

Have you looked at the MF lens database on the Pentaxuser website? It's the equivalent to the Dyxum AF lens database and you'll find references to it on Dyxum, but if you haven't looked, see here.

Is it of use to you?

TY! appreciate!
'regular' there though. it's so hard to find all specifications without them. and like those fora a lot!
but just added 2 sample pages and couldn't find those lenses i.e. spec.s through the search engine over there. nor google.

Once again, could you mention new sample threads here: http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/index-nonnative-lenses-on-e-and-amount-cameras_topic102746.html?

Other people want to be able to find this lens also and they want to use the index.

OK, the two new M42 sample threads have been added to the index. I hope everyone posts in the thread of the link above to say they have created new sample threads, otherwise they might get missed (which would be a shame)

As soon as they are mentioned there one of us will edit the index.
