How small is small?

I can see Matt and Bieomax shots have some angle, but...the reason to use f/16 and f/18 to shoot a paper Gregor?
I must be missing something...
Macroine addicted, not natural to english language.

First Attempt at a Macro with the New A57. Taken with minolta 35-70 with its front element removed.
The live view and peaking are certainly a great help over the old A100 lol
