The last is kind of my strategy, keep the a77ii and some of the nice A-mount lenses. After all, I’m not really going to get much selling them now. Especially as the A-mount was pulled out of the NZ market at the beginning of last year. Then shift to full frame E-mount. So far I’ve got an a7riii, some nice primes and a couple of zooms. The biggest change I’ve noticed is that when I had the a7R it was a complement to my a77ii. This time around the a7riii feels like a genuine DSLR replacement. From what I understood Sony are developing their own adapter. A prototype is already in circulation. They need to have this adapter when shutting down A-mount, without it a switch to E-mount would be very expensive for example users like me with 2 full frame A-mount cameras and 4 G-lenses and lots of other APS-C stuff. The adapter will make the transition easier as I can start with just one E-mount camera and the adapter. With this adapter the A-mount lenses wont loose all of it's value in the 2nd hand market and prevent A-mount users jump ship. |

Yeah, I know that but I trust this guy but I can't, for various reasons, tell you guys who the source is, sorry. Normally I keep myself from spreading stuff that I read or hear but this was too important not too share. |

Interesting. But also somewhat questionable. Sounds as if there could be a mix-up with the third-party MonsterAdapter. Or that Sony indeed has decided to not let this stay in the hands of third parties and do it themselves. Of course I would love such an adapter. I have decided for myself to not upgrade to any new camera as long as there isn't an upgrade path that I can accept. For me, that is a mirrorless adapter with screw-drive support. |

I'll believe there is a Sony FE-A adapter when I can buy one. But I really hope Sony will provide it, until they do I can't see myself getting an E mount body.

I just bought a Minolta AF 2.8/20mm from KEH in "excellent" condition for $199 which included shipping and sales tax. I will use it on my a99 and my a7Rii with the LA-EA4. There were other choices in native FE, the Sony 1.8/20mm for $900 and the Tamron 2.8/20mm, currently $300. One way was outside my budget and the other only for E-mount (and with significant barrel distortion, though nice in many other ways). With a few exceptions, full frame FE lenses are just outside my budget, so I will take advantage of the significantly reduced prices of A-mount lenses that are just fine in cross mount. And if either the Monster LA-EA4r, or a possible FE-A Sony adapter find a spot in my camera bag, I will be even happier. |

I suppose there will always be some kind of market for A-Mount gear, though that market will change as and when Sony finally decide to pull the plug on it. If that market becomes solely a second-hand market with prices to reflect a fall in perceived value, then so be it.
I'm in no position to jump over to E-Mount today, whether or not there is an all-singing, all-dancing adaptor in the wings, even if I were to trade all my A-Mount gear in - I simply cannot justify the expense. I have a couple of low-count Mark 1 A77 bodies and a mix of glass, including a couple of G lenses and Zeiss ZA lenses, covering 16mm to 400mm (800mm with teleconverter). It would be nice to get a couple of lenses, but really I have what I need to see me through the next few years. As and when A-Mount is not supportable and my camera gear cannot be repaired, then as a consumer with (hopefully) money in my pocket, I will look around and choose a new camera set-up that's right for me. That may not be Sony E-Mount, and then again it might. It will depend on the capabilities and requirements I am looking for and the corresponding products that fit those needs; after all, I'm not a professional photographer, just an amateur (some would say "very..."), so it's not like my livelihood depends on it. All the "death of A-Mount" talk over the past few years led me to not really invest in anything, certainly not new (so, a self-fulfilling prophecy). Instead, I adopted a new maxim: !! Love the gear you've got, use the gear you've got !! And that's what I plan to do with A-Mount. |

You mean an updated one? Because Sony released them years ago. |

A proper one, full AF on all Sony (& Minolta?) A mount lenses without a mirror. See swede66's posts in this thread. |

The market for lenses (as opposed to cameras) does jump up as well as down. Years ago you couldn't get rid of MF lenses for love nor money. Most of them ended up in the junk bins in camera shops. Then when mirrorless came along where new lenses were expensive, suddenly people found those old lenses useful and ebay prices rose up to silly levels. Now the glut of cheap Chinese lenses has pushed it down again. |
