So I returned the cable and ordered a cheap alternative from eBay, under £4 with a just-long-enough cable. Happily, I can now trigger Godox flashes with the XPro-S TTL (in the case of the A900) and manual (with the A9). Job done

Great! Took a few "blind" using a flash meter, didn't do any tests with a digital camera, looking forward to getting the roll developed.
