I am certain of the voltage. I measured the batteries. I even bought Surefire and Panasonic batteries to check different brands, 3v CR123a non-rechargables. The rechargeables I have are higher voltage and the mAh is half of typical Li batts. Soon I will get the grip and test with AA alkalines.
A repair person told me by email that aperture lever and/or rewind motor may be the problem. If the grip doesn't work either, which I suspect it won't then the beauty is going back.. |

The disposable batteries for this camera are rated at 3 volt ( typically 3.2 volt if fresh ) . Rechargeable of this size are available as 3 volt or 3.7 volt ( both a little bit more when freshly charged ) . As the camera takes two batteries , the correct ones equal around 6.4 volt maximum , the others are up 7.6 volt combined . Much more than is good for the camera and has reportedly killed them ! So do not put 3.7 volt rechargeable batteries in cameras . |

If the contacts are clean in the battery chamber and the batteries are fresh the camera should work as normal . ( read my above post ) If it doesn't it is faulty . That's it . Send it back . If it only works with a grip attached , the camera is faulty . Send it back . That's all their is to it . You bought something that is readily available at a fair price that is faulty . Just send it back and buy one that works correctly . The only fault with these cameras that can be considered acceptable is the "sticky back" issue that cameras from this era are prone too . A simple job to clean with a bit of IPA . |
