We had a big birthday celebration here last weekend. Mine, my son's, and my brother who is turning 80. We stopped by the creek just in time for the trawler's return with bird escort. I took these pictures while waiting to buy some shrimp for our dinner. $4 a pound, but 10-pounds minimum. We're still eating shrimp this week.

Vectis 8/400 in AF mode with my trusty A7 II. Several of the images were not cropped, so the degree of vignetting can be seen.

No crop, no donuts. I think they came out nice. I like this AF mirror.

I received an incomprehensible email in Chinese, the only thing I recognized was the FedEx symbol. I decided it was not fishing and clicked a link. I think next Wednesday I will receive my Vectis AF adapter. As all my Vectis lenses are untested, one can only hope that they work, particularly the 400 that was the cause of all this.

Encouraged by your photos, I decided to buy the Reflex AF 500 again. This is my third copy (I have a similar story with apo 100-400)
Today was the first outing with this lens. So I'm showing you six photos from the Bronx Zoo.

It was quite magical where we were staying, close to marshes by an estuary. The bird hide became a deer hide (the birds tended to be twice as far away and a fraction of the size ...). There's more to come - keep an eye open for an Open View thread next week.

Certainly the animals stay very alert, especially when we observed them in the open.

@mariuslo that fox photo is fantastic - sharp where it needs to be and beautifullt rendered with the doughnut bokeh behind.

Today the Vectis AF adapter arrived, gave it a quick test on the 400 Reflex (the reason for getting the adapter) and all-systems-are-go. AF works fine although not as refined as the modern day hypersonic drives, it gets there fast enough and does not hunt, MF works fine (cannot adjust MF on the camera, has to be through the A/M button on the lens which makes sense) and is nicely slow to adjust precisely. Test shots to follow soon.
