My lens is clean. Lots of interesting posts here! I especially like woodrim's post. He proves with his photos that he knows what to do with mirror lenses. I also like the Darosa's photos with Rokkor 250. But for now this lens is beyond my reach;) Keep uploading new photos. Maybe they will encourage me to take my lens out of the closet :) |

I'll have to come back to the discussion of tripods and shutter shock. I don't believe I have trouble with either, so wonder if it's something I'm doing or something others are not.
I shoot all my mirrors handheld except the large and heavy ones. The Questar 700 and Rubinar 5.6/500 are easier with a monopod and the Questar is impossible without one. I used the MTO 3M-6A with a monopod also. At times, I may lean up against a tree if I'm going to be there for some time waiting for something to happen. I don't think I've posted from the AF Reflex yet, so that will be my next post. |

The Minolta RF 250 easily shoots handheld. The lens, being so small for its FL, balances nicely on A7 series. The Minolta RF 500 is a different matter. I have tried it handheld with IBIS on and you can tell that the system is working really hard to compensate (big sensor shifts, the image does not come out as framed), so I have decided it needs a monopod. But I recon framing and focusing is a lot easier on a tripod, so that is in the future for me.
By the way, 600/8 mirror in the mail. Sigma, A-mount with electronic coupling, short MFD. It was cheap, is in good shape, hope it performs. On towards an 800/8 or a 1000/10? I think not, 600 will do for now. |

Out dialing in the AF500.
Don't see images? READ THIS POST 1. Woody Point about 5km across the bay. 2. Detail from the shot above. 3. Bokeh controlled. 4. Great detail. 5. More detail. 6. Donuts. That's a Kayak up close if its hurting your eyes too much. 7. Can handle things moving quickly. Managed to randomly snap the LBS owner here. Edited by keith_h - 04 December 2021 at 13:36 |

I have the same problem. When I right click on the photo symbol and select 'open in a new page' I can see it. |

And I see the original thread, as well as the quoted one, fine. I'm using Firefox on a Mac, if that is a factor.

And I can replicate that with Chrome on the Mac and indeed on Android. Safari behaves.

Apparently its because my website is http, not https. Some browsers handle it as described as a result.

Some browsers fail to show linked photo's when they're not hosted on a secure "https" site.
Mozilla Firefox shows them all, Chrome doesn't. Another option that sometimes works is right-clicking the image and choose "show image in new tab" and then it appears in a separate tab, but that's a bit of a drag when there are many photos in a post |

You can see the April Foolishness 2023 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

There is a setting in Chrome (Edge, Opera) where you can allow specific sites to show both http material on https sites - like Dyxum.
I was annoyed that I could not see the pictures posted by Keith and Keith not being willing to upgrade to a https server - so... I changed the setting for Dyxum. In Opera: Settings > privacy and security > site settings > Additional content settings > insecure content > Allowed to show insecure content => there you can add specific sites, like Dyxum.com. Other Chromium based browsers (like Chrome and Edge) have a similar setting. @Keith: maybe adding a disclaimer to your picture posts? It stops the discussion about the pictures showing, so we can talk about the pictures |

Why not tell Chrome, etc. to change their policy instead?

I doubt they would opt for less secure protocols. Let the user decide by changing settings or browser.
