Mount Kazbegi, in the beautiful Republic of Georgia (Sakartvelo) in the Caucasus region, is a tall peak (5000m) at the very border with Russia.
I arrived at the guest house in Stepantsminda and barely had the time to move my luggage in the room when this sunset opened up in front of me.
I quickly mounted the camera on the tripod, reached for the 70-200mm and shot a series of frames that would later be stitched into this image.
The small church in front of the mountain gives the perception of the immense scale of this majestic peak.

The original image is a stitched panorama of 9 individual frames for a total size of about 300mp.

Amazing image, and thanks for explaining how it came about, and also pointing out the church giving scale.
Looking forward to more from this place.
