Got the A7III finally, My issue is getting software to recognize the raw files. My last camera is the A77II and my lightroom (ver5.7) still reads the raw files. I did not expect it to be able to read the raw files. But I have DXO photolab 4 and Luminar 4 both updated to their most recent versions and neither one is reading the RAW files from the A7III I downloaded Capture One and it reads the files but I was hoping not to have to use another software. Any help in getting either Luminar 4 or DxO photolab 4 to recognize the A7III raw files would be appreciated.

The other thing you can do is use the latest (free) adobe dng converter and convert the arw files to dng. Then Lightroom 5.7 will read these dng files.

Can confirm. Capture One does generate very nice files but a batch conversion of the files to DNG followed by import into LR 5.7 works fine. |

Photolab 4 should definitely read the RAW files.
Does it make any difference if the RAWs are compressed or uncompressed? |

Are Luminar and Photolab RAW-converters? I cannot find it on the website. Besides Adobe's DNG converter Pegelli referred to, there are several free RAW-converters. Most notably Imaging Edge by Sony, but I use RAW Therapee.
And if you like Lightroom, why not upgrade that? |

I do not like the subscription based concept which makes me a slave to Adobe for life if I want to continue to use LR.

Me neither, but you gotta do what you gotta do and I can afford the 30 cents a day it costs me. I wish all my subscriptions were only $10 a month.
