It looks like SAR and Sony's youtube channel are reporting of new cameras. If this a delayed April fool's joke?

Looks to be real; listed on the official Sony site: ILCE-7RM3A + ILCE-7RM4A.
Basically slightly "updated" versions from the original bodies, mainly the LCD resolution improved. |

Perhaps the original one is no longer being manufactured. |

Sounds like they put new parts in the cameras, parts they got for the A7s3/A1. Those also have higher pixel screens and USB 3.2.

If they only changed the display, then the other parts would keep the same limitations. |

I can see one of these, if true, being referred to as 'The Riva' model somehow. Seems they have run out of imagination for model nomenclature at the moment!
Take care and best regards, Neil. |

Sony has listed them officially on the website and it says in the video description (click on view description to expand it) what exactly they updated.

The A7s3 and A1 do not have higher pixel screens. They still have 1.4m. Check out the spec lists on Sony’s website or B&H. Wonder if they will quietly update those cameras too and the Fx3 since the Fx3 relies on the screen. v/r Linden |

The change is from 800x600 panel to 1024x768 panel, which is fairly insignificant. Sony doesn't necessarily drive panels with native resolution--often they only do so in picture playback. It is possible that the live-view display could be worse with these.
My A7RII only has the 640x480 display, and I would appreciate more actual resolution. Edited by QuietOC - 14 April 2021 at 11:55 |

Anyway, you're right. TBH, I thought the screen on the A7r4 was even worse then they have. Not that I find it a problem. |
