Hi folks,
I'm new(ish) to these forums so I'd like to say a few things about myself. I am a 31 yo freelance photographer based in Finland. I discovered my love for photography only a year ago and it's been "downhill" ever since :) One day, I hope to be able to bring the food to my family's table as a pure blood professional photographer. My passion lies in portraiture with an artistic twist. I love people and would like to photograph them all! Equipment: a850 and a580 with lots and lots of glass in the bag. |

Hello,
My name is Chuck, from York PA, my photo experience spans 30years. I have 3 sons, that are active in sports, basketball season is in full practice mode right now. My 1st real camera was a Cannon "T 50", then went right into digital camera's from there, current camera is a sony 10.1 mega pixel cybershot, about 1yr old. I've been reading and reading reviews on camera's, and after a few weeks, I pulled the trigger on a "open box" Sony A77 from Amazon.com. I'm here to learn and ask lot's of questions, found the site by google search of "sony a77 forum". Thanks for having me! Chuck Edited by c4yourself2 - 31 December 2011 at 15:18 |

Hello,
I just found this thread, even though I've been posting on the site for a few days. I am Rebecca, from Oklahoma, USA. I moved from a Leica D-Lux2 point and shoot (with lots of manual options) on November 11. It wasn't a considered move. I looked at cameras online, then went to my local camera shop and bought a Sony a55. This is my first ever dslr, and I am having SO much fun with it! I found Dyxum sometime (can't remember when, exactly) after I got the camera. I was blown away by the quality of the photos people post here. If I ever get where I can do things like that, I will feel that I've succeeded. Cameras and photography do play a small part in my professional life. I have to take photos which will then be reproduced and printed in mass mailings. That sounds a lot spiffier than it is. The photos have to be sharp enough and make a point well enough to illustrate the text and draw the reader's eye. But that's it. I could crop to my heart's content to get what I needed, and, of course, reader's didn't know any more than me about things like noise and ca. My point and shoot was good enough for it, even though I know that the Sony will make what I do much more effective ... at least it will when I get to be a good enough photographer not to insult the camera. I was totally lost when I got to this forum. I didn't even understand half of what you were talking about. I'm grateful to have found this site. It is a trove of information and help. I plan to try to work my way through the photo assignments after the New Year. I expect it will be difficult for me, but that I will learn a great deal. |

Hello all!
My name is Brian. I reside in South Florida near Ft. Lauderdale. Been out of photography for more than a few years. In fact I just finished off a roll of 35mm that had been siting in my 7000i for over 7 years. I can't wait to see what pictures turn up when its developed, well if they do. Figured it was time to pick things back up. I was lucky enough to find one of the few A65's in a local retail store. Love the site! Looking forward to continued posting and reading all the helpful tips. |

Hi everyone
Been shooting with an a100 for five years. Long time reader of dyxum forums. Made a resolution for the new year to become a member. This is the first internet forum I've ever joined and I'm hoping to regain some of my enthusiasm for photography. Thanks, Thomas |

Hi all I am a lurker newbie. just love looking at all the awesome shots posted and reading all the great info posted. I am a hobbyist. I bought my first Minolta 35mm way back when, and when I was shopping around for a dslr I found out the alphas would use the great Minolta lenses it was a no brainier. I never did shoot in manual before so I have been learning a lot since July 2010 when I got my Sony alpha 500. I have been working very hard at wearing it out because when I do I will be ready to upgrade... I know I have lots more to learn so I am here to learn from the best.

Hello everyone,
After lurking here for over a year I figure it's time to be more involved. I am a 29yo civil engineer from Michigan. I became interested in photography back in high school using my parents old Canon film SLR. I took the plunge and bought an A580 last February after pouring over internet reivews of everything, with this website being especially helpful. My main interests are travel/vacation photography (primarily streetscapes, landscapes, and panos) and macro photography of flowers and other small stuff. I'm still working on my composition skills and hope to find time to do the Dyxum photographic assignments. I've really enjoyed using this website as a reference and I am in awe of the skills of many of the contributors. I'm glad to be a part of it now! Best regards, Steve |
