Wikipedia tried to explain what a parkway is but I still do not understand. To me every serious road (thoroughfare) is landscaped - and why are lorries excluded? Looking at Jack's picture it looks like a highway to me..... What then is the difference with a parkway?
I do not think I have a picture of a parkway. I have a road in a (national) park, but I think a parkway is something else. |

Thank to you, guys I am improving my English. For me Ford always meant car manufacturer's or former US President's name. Now I know that word "ford" really means. |

Recently I was in the town of Coevorden - Coe is for Koe aka Cow. Voerden is Voorde aka Ford. Vancouver in Canada is named after (people named after) the city of Coevorden. It should be called Cowford.
TBH I was thinking about a fort when I posted the picture of the Ford car. Like Jack I did not know a ford as a wading place. |

Indeed, I regard myself as a son of Bideford, a town in Devon thought to be named as in 'By-the-ford'. And I live now in Oxford, from the Anglo-Saxon Oxanforda, a ford in the river where oxen could cross.
As for an aqueduct with water in it: Bisambra aqueduct - an ancient hydraulic system that directed water from the Bisambra canal to nearby Nazca settlements. Next, let's see another hydraulic system. |
