The wood chips on the ground proof these are wood workers tools - these are being used, so, no rust - sorry

I have not that interesting pictures of the the HMS Warrior and of the bow of Zr. Ms. Buffel - both on the Wikipedia list of ironclads - I am sure other people have better pictures.... but if nobody has a better picture, I will share those

I thought at first I might post a photo of the USS Constitution, known as "Old Ironsides" and the oldest still commissioned ship in the US Navy, dating from the Revolutionary War, but on delving into it found it was made of very thick timber such that the enemy cannonballs bounced back off it, and that's what earned it the nick-name.

I'd think that in the spirit of this thread, next photo should be an ironclad as properly defined, so go for it Addy.

To be technical, it is not from the revolutionary war, but from the war of 1812. It is the second oldest commissioned war ship after Nelson's flagship HMS Victory - but it is the oldest in the water as the Victory is in drydok.

EDIT: the constitution was laid down in 1794, launched in 1797 and had its maiden voyage in 1798. i thought, I checked if I was right

I would have thought it would have been in the spirit of the assignment.
