Obviously the penny farthing is a rare species, occasionally re-created for historical purposes.
In the absence of any offering from the Dyxum community, here's a link to a Getty image on the web. Penny farthing in London. |

Okay. Here is an old bike - nothing like as old as a penny farthing, but 50+ years old. It also has two different sized wheels, though not in the penny farthing arrangement. I have also convertd to B&W to add another illusion of age.
A99ii, Min AF 28-85 If acceptable next photo will have a 21st Century bicycle. PS I'm sure I took a couple of shots of a guy riding round town on a penny farthing a year or two back - but I just can't find them. EDIT: Macca has supplied the real thing - so an old penny it is. No pennies?
A penny is 1/100th of a pound or the name of a US one cent coin. For sure somebody has one of those.... |

The penny that gve its name to the penny farthing was 1/240th of a pound - and the farthing was 1/4 of a penny. The new penny introduced with decimalisation is 1/100th of a pound. |
