There was some talk about the possibility to see Northern light as far south as Belgium on July 30, but here's what I saw in the period between 22:00 and 0:30. Was anybody else successful that evening?

I didn't even try then, but just a while ago tonight...

Northern lights!

α7R IV + Sony FE 1.8/20 G @ 20 mm, f/1.8, 1.6 s, ISO 800

I still have other camera in interval shooting, so I may have more aurora pictures to post later.

Last night there was a mild geomagnetic storm and it is almost the peak of Perseids meteor shower, so obviously I had to set up a camera to try to capture these. Pity there was more clouds one could wish for, but you can't always get everything. Later in the night I did also see quite a few heat lightnings, but sadly couldn't make a proper capture of those and 14 mm wide angle was perhaps the wrong lens to capture those distant lightnings. Anyway, this was the best I was able to capture:

Shooting star, aurora and clouds

I put on my camera from about midnight for 500 shots. Detected some meteors indeed (to follow later), but for now just some startrails.

Northern lights over Eastern Helsinki

α7R V + Sony FE 1.8/14 GM @ 14 mm, f/2.5, 1.3 s, ISO 1600

Yes, almost the same scenery as in the few photos above, albeit this time I tested if the scenery would be better from the top floor (8th) balcony.

They are barely visible. Won't put the effort in it. Sorry.
