This weekend they were constructing a tunnel, replacing a railway crossing in town. It is expected that trains will run more frequently in the near future. This should prevent that people are waiting too long for the closed barriers.
The work continued 24/7 during the weekend to make the basis for the tunnel. The rails were removed, sheet piles were driven in the ground, they placed the new deck and replaced the rails in the end. They even created a stand for the public to watch the activities. I haven't been there all weekend, but just took a look around blue hour on Saturday night. Here is just a little impression. #1 The scene ![]() #2 Lots of machinery ![]() #3 Lifting the sheet piles ![]() #4 Zie je mij, Zie ik jou ![]() #5 Driving the piles into the ground ![]() #6 Volvo ![]() #7 View from the stand ![]() (note the selfie shadow ;-) ) #8 Control room ![]() #9 Symetry ![]() #10 More public ![]() All with A99ii and 70-200G, 24-70ZA SSM or 16-35ZA SSM (see EXIF) TFL As usual all C&C welcome and appreciated. Very good series!
For some I reason I cannot really explain I think the b/W images are superior to the color ones (with #2 maybe the exception). Therefore #4 and #6 are my favorites. Maybe the "technical" character of the images is better emphasized by B/w. Thanks for sharing these images, Fred! ![]() |

Good series. Not your best work, but your best shots are far superior to mine so don’t take that as a negative. It’s a tough scene to shoot with a lot going on and you have done it well. Tfs

Thanks Chris. I fully agree that it's not my best work and don't take that as a negative (that's why I called it "just and impression"), but I can't agree with the second part of that sentence! There are many beautiful shots from you I wished I had taken them myself. Indeed it was a though scene to capture with the strong lights in the dark. High fences and movements from the activities made it impossible to use a tripod, so it is all handheld. The fences kept the spectators at quite a distance, obviously for the good reason of personal safety. |

Nice series Fred, my favourites are the blue hour shots with complementary colours of the machinery. TFS!
