Been dabbling with this lens for a while now but not for a serious period. I hope to stretch it and me in the challenge. It was in my bag today and I had a few minutes to stop off and try it this afternoon. It has a very good MFD around 9cm! and crops well ( which I won`t be doing much of unless squaring in the challenge).

I hope to include at least 4 street shots in the month as I have little street experience and get the little used flash out also to improve my lighting skills.

The lens is described as thus in the Topcon Cub website..

"The RE Auto Topcor 25mm F 3.5 lens introduced for the RE Super camera is noteworthy because it was the first, world wide, super wide angle retrofocus lens offered for use with a SLR camera. Because the front optical element was so large, special filters were provided that attached at the rear of the lens in a bayonet mount. The small size of these filters made them convenient to carry and to use. A series 9 filter could also be installed in the unusual lens hood."

Around 75% crop

It retains a nice amount of detail even in poorish light

Bokeh is decent for a wide even stopped down somewhat.

And I`m still completely capable of messing up the shot, taken on the turn and misfocused..

A99 and RE Auto Topcor 25mm 3.5

Macca, it seems that you know what to do with your lens and you are ready for the challenge!

Since I ultimately decided to go into this challenge with 500 Reflex here are some of my training shots.

All from Sony A900 + 500 Reflex combo:

f/8, 1/1250s, ISO400

f/8, 1/1250s, ISO400

f/8, 1/2000, ISO400

f/8, 1/2000, ISO400

Now, normally I would crop these (as you can see these are not hence the heave vignetting in corners) but given that the part of the challenge is not to crop I will have to work harder on getting closer and framing better.

Marcin, that is going to be a challenge!
But it seems you are ready for the challenge
I actually like the uncropped images, which give some context, and the vignetting in corners adds a lot of atmosphere to them.

First time with CZ 135 F1.8. Somewhat intimidating. All with A99

With 36 mm extension. :

Wide open:

Oktoberfest won’t be easy, but focus peaking on this lens is like taking candy from a baby.

Here's an example of what I have in mind for Oktoberfest:

Chun Quoit (quoit is Cornish for dolmen or cromlech)

A99 + Samyang 24/3.5 Tilt/Shift (JPEG SOOC)

I have a secret desire for panoramic cameras like the Fuji 6 x 17. I have never used such a camera but imo it is a great format for landscapes. When the Samyang 24/3.5 tilt/shift was announced, I thought: with that lens on the A99 I have my panoramic camera. I just make a panorama of 3 photos: max left shift, no shift, max right shift and stitch them in PS or PtGui.

And that's what I did here. Unfortunately, the max size of photos on Dyxum is not ideal for panoramic photos but when you click it you get a better picture.

Just some thumbnail practise, a lot of copy/paste involved here will there be thumbnailpages for the Oktoberfest 2013?

Assuming this goes as any other challenge there will be a posting thread for each day and a single thumbnail thread. Indeed thumbnails are a lot of hard work, some people do not bother to make them.

If you make a document (word) on the desktop to copy and paste in it´s actually not that much work, if you try to do it direct in a post here there will be a lot of jumping around in many windows I think.
