A day later than announced, but I'll do some commenting on the second half of this challenge.
For the first half I picked the odd days, for the second half I'll pick the even ones and comment on an almost random few. Day 16 @Gregja: Nice colourcontrast between the blue see and the yellow land in almost golden light. Just wondering what the dark spots in the see are. Birds in flight? @Minotlta_mutley: Nice to see something form your the place you live. @Beararircactus: Enough wind there for some mills according to the bush ![]() @onsplekkie: I like the reflection under the bridge Day18 @Jozioau: I like that building style, but what a work for the painter ![]() @pegelli: You're a quick student ![]() @addy landzaat: The graffiti paint is keeping the building together? @Phil Wood: What a joyful moment you captured ! @Snegren: It's not easy to get a good compo with a fishey, but you do well, even with this 4mm Paul! Day 20 @Jozioau: The excavator typically looks like a toy with the tilt effect @Phil Wood: And what's next? ![]() @Bearaircactus: Brave man! Certainly not a bad picture given the circumstances Day 22 @Snegren: Love it Paul! @Minolta_mutley: Your third shot? @LAbernethy: That must have been a long ride! @Dopol: I like it Domien, Simple, but effective with the path leading to the lights Day 24 @Gregja: Tilted I guess Greg? @pegelli: Somehow these kind of flies seem very attracted to mushrooms. Well capture Pieter, with the shroom nicely isolated. @AsD Good symetry, but what am I looking at Andy? @Dopol: Did you visit a light event? Day26 @Snegren: Despite the blue cast, a nice picture! @Gregja: Lovely light! @Dopol: Well seen ! Day 28 @Jozioau: The last days are the hardest Joe! Desperation is recognisable @Domien: But you had a good rest ![]() @Phil Wood: But where is the elephant?? Day 30 @gregja: lovely classical bench bokeh shot! @Jozioau: A hard building to correct.. @AsD: Good to see some colours and blue sky from you Andy! All the BW's made me think you were in a dark mood ![]() @alpha_in_exile: How did it look in color? Nice dark brown wood and black handle? @Dopol: I guess you heard/saw the press conference this evening?... |

And thanks to you too Joe for the diligence in making comments. I'm gonna have to set a mini-challenge next time to commit to also providing feedback. |

I've already commented on day 2, 4, 6 and 8 and I'll continue here with 10, 12 and 14
After that I will switch to the odd days to complement Fred_S who took care of the even days in the second half of Oktoberfest Day 10 gregja, nice bokeh and photo. Have you tried to mirror the image and see how that would work, I think it would be a totally different view that way Jozioau, You have eye for detail, making sure "Grand Cru" was the sharpest point in the image makes it sing pegelli, I like the shadows minolta_mutley, nice dreamy scene, maybe improved by turning it into a "letterbox crop" Dopol, nioce photo with a very fitting capture, taken at a cemetery I assume? Fred_S, I'd call it "froth", great character in that lens Snegren, lovely quiet and typical Dutch scene, the reflection is icing on the cake LAbernethy, nice composition and play with dof, I like all the little details in the crystal, both in and out of focus Phil Wood, nice conversion and layered image, top fluffy clouds, middle defined clouds and bottom earth. Only there's an UFO in the sky that is probably easy to clone out onsplekkie, born with their skates on? great dynamic team scene alpha_in_exile, nice find, the contrast between the vivid flower and dull fence works well addy landzaat, I like these kind of typical Dutch scenes AsD, nice scene, reminds me that we still have to do a barge tour one day, it's on our "to do" list but no firm plans yet. Day 12 Jozioau, nice and sharp surface texture and a very balanced image gregja, another beauty from you, I like the colours and the composition pegelli, I like the symmetry Phil Wood, funny image to go with the story of the three versions of the castle. I suggest we meet in the middle one ![]() Snegren, I like how the oof background provides a context for the image addy landzaat, nice set-up, only the negative and image on the LCD look very "red", or is that just caused by a wonky mixed light white balance? But in this photo it works well as a compositional element onplekkie, marvelous use of lines to "frame" the sunstar Dopol, nice sene, also at a cemetery I think, maybe a small step to the right would have prevented the interference between one of the oof trees and te vase/rose Fred_S, I like the "wild" highlights in the oof areas AsD, looks prickly, nice B&W conversion Day 14 Jozioau, This image shows the perfect contrast between the seasons up-top versus down-under gregja, Well seen, all the curves well placed and working together Fred_S, to answer your question: "nothing", nice example, over here the crop is very small, despite the very wet summer and start of fall. Snegren, I like all the "macro textures" of the different building layers pegelli, nice scene, but I would have liked a slightly widder view Phil Wood, an ordinary urban scene but with a deeper meaning once you start thinking about it AsD, I like how the tree and its reflection are both "framed by nature" LAbernethy, nice composition but I feel that I am missing one real sharp detail to rest my eye on, the rim of the shroom comes close but doesn't seem pin sharp onsplekkie, I thought they were called Iron Horses and not Iron Cows ![]() addy landzaat, nice scene, the horn as the only real warm tone in the image immediately attracts the eye Dopol, Yummie ![]() alpha_in_exile, I think it works quite well More to come a bit later |

Day 18 - I had almost forgotten the shot of the Mayor until he cornered me a few days later to ask if I had any he could use - this was the only one I took. Day 20 - What's Next is a good question, I'm not sure I have ever been into one. They seem to be the current market leader in high street clothing, so I guess they will collapse soon. I see they only have 200 shops in the EU, have they reached the Netherlands yet? Day 28 - Here's an elephant (the pub is out of shot to the right). Not my shot. ![]() |

There is a long story behind the name, but the short one is that the current owners were looking for a new name (it was the Queen's Hotel) and found it used to be called the Elephant & Castle (it wasn't, that was next door, but a local history book says it was) and the marketing department came up with The Elephant in the Market. There have been several Elephant pubs in town over the years. And you're spot on about the Mayor. |

Thank you, Pieter, and Fred.
Yes the door was a very dark, matte brown (painted), but in fact the handle also was painted the same brown color (though some orange rust has affected it, as well). The texture and then the graffiti cut in the door (of which only a tiny bit is visible) gave it all some character. |

Well, I finally got round to voting and added some comments underneath.
Once again, thanks to @pegelli for his organisation and to all the other participants. I see that there are some more comments on here and on the voting thread since I last posted, I shall try and reply to those soon. Also, I see elsewhere that there is talk of a lack of diversity here. I wouldn't know how to solve that issue, I occasionally ask my daughter if she fancies joining but it's not for her at present. I did ask her to look through the thumbnails and 'vote', so I'll post her choices here, hope that's OK.
