And away we go in Oktoberfest 2023.
Unseasonably hot Springtime in Australia (yesterday 29 degrees C), and spending days 1 to 15 with the CZ 16-35mm f2.8 Vario-Sonnar set to 16mm on my a99ii.
Looking forward to seeing the worldwide photos posted, and the chat build up as we go.

Great start Joe, using the wide 16mm to accentuate those tail fins. Managed to get out early enough to beat the 37 deg here in Sydney this afternoon!

Both of you had a great start!
@Joe: and days 16-31 with the CZ 16-35mm f2.8 Vario-Sonnar set to 35mm?
@Greg: good luck with the heat

Quick question to the organizers: I will use the Sony 11/1.8 and Sony 50/1.8 OSS. Does the "prime" in the rules mean the lens or the focallength? If focallength I might switch between Sony 50/1.8 OSS and my new TTArtisan 50/1.4. If not, I stick with the AF lens (because I am lazy )

Addy,
No, for days 16 to 31 I'm going to be using my SEL70200GMii set to 200mm, on my a7iv.

As for your query on prime lens selection, I'm not on the rules committee, but I would have thought that you can select and use a specified focal length of your choosing, rather than having to lock into a single lens.
But if I'm wrong I'm sure one of the Mods/Admins will chime in.

Nice, a real challenge!

Basically what I was thinking, but da rulez seem to imply it is the lens. I am sure they will chime in!

Hi addy, in the guidelines #2 says: Shoot for the whole month with one (or two), prime lens(es) (if you do not have a prime (=fixed focal length), you can use a zoom, fixed to one focal length; but you cannot change the focal length). Any lens is okay, but you should decide in advance. (bolding added for emphsis) and since it says "one or two" and not "three or more with maximum two focal length" I think you need to decide which 50 mm to use in addition to your 11 mm.

I've only one prime below 50mm now, the Samyang T-S, so I'm also using the wide end of a zoom for one prime, the other choice being the Minolta 200/2.8 which doesn't ofter see daylight. Hoping for a drier October than September. Good start, everyone.

Now that I'm back from a week on Skye it's time to declare my lenses and other challenges. Since I have a very busy month ahead (with another 1 week trip) I'll do minimum 3 per week, hopefully more.

I'll only post the photo's in the thread of the day I've taken them, so no shooting in advance or posting of photo's shot earlier.

Equipment wise I'll use the A7ii with a Meyer Görltz Lydith 30/3.5 and the A700 with a Minolta 100/2.8 macro. Both lenses have never been used in a monthly prime challenge by me before.

During my trip mid-oktober I'll take one of my challenge lenses but will also take a zoom for event passes as I see fit that week.

You expect a bear to mow the grass during your trip?

Today we've made a start with our electronics Surgery project (repairing a Revox B790) - where some parts of the power supply gave me some smoke a few weeks ago. That seems to be replaceable (and with that generation of material - lots of documentation and valuable kits where it becomes very easy to do it yourself repairs, it seemed like a good start).
But then came bpost and customs... With an extra surprise (an extra invoice though i paid my taxes thru the platform already - but something in the administration was missing).

So if you're lucky - you may get a big bang, the next few images.

And when there is no bang today - there may be a bang sooner or later, while we plan visiting some tanks during the evening in Brasschaat (it'll be the last time ever - because they move to Ieper, but the neighbourhood over there isn't so happy with those beautiful sound generating driving tanks...)

Bang, bang - sings Cher.

And maybe we'll get to see a T72!
