Looking at how inset the rear element is, I suspect if you remove or modify the rear baffle the FE teleconverters will fit the 70-180. |

Food for thought: if 180mm is just a small crop of 200mm, and 135mm is a small crop from 135, as is 100mm, why not just use a 24-70/2.8?
200mm is longer then 180mm. The DoF is less. If you see side by side pictures there is a noticeable difference between 200mm and 180mm. However, I think it probably is worth the weight and money savings. |

Why stop at 200 mm? I tried a 70-220mm F3.5 briefly. Tamron has a recent 70-210 F4. Canon has a patent for an RF 70-240 F4. Sigam has a 120-300 F2.8 (which supposedly loses a ton of focal length at portrait distances.)
DoF is constant with the same framing and relative aperture. I am in favor of lenses with more depth-of-field, especially when combined with good transmission. Edited by QuietOC - 12 May 2020 at 19:32 |

You're right, with modern high MP sensors even a prime becomes a 1.5x or 2x zoom |

Did have that thought but I rather some else do it first
Yep we just need a really sharp 10mm prime and a 1terapixel sensor. |
