Pancake weekend 2015. A Day Prime Special! - Event Date: 19 September 2015 - 20 September 2015

My pancake shots. All were shot with an a6000 and Industar 69 28mm f/2.8
This thing is surprisingly good at close-up shots, because you can unscrew the lens quite a bit from the housing to bring it further from the sensor.

Really nice pancakey shots so far!

All of mine were taken with the NEX 5 and Sony 16/2.8. I also tried out my new Skink pinhole pancake on the a7r, which I bought earlier this year specifically with this weekend in mind, but I did not like the results at all so did not post them. Guess I need more practice with it.

Sunday I paid a visit to the Museum Buurtspoorweg, a museum steamtrain from Haaksbergen to Boekelo in the eastern part of the Netherlands.

The slang word for the signal used by the Station master to let trains depart is called "pannenkoek" which translated to English is pancake, so here's a few shots of a pancake in use by a pancake

Aamof I made some nice shots with my pancake lens today. I'm on holiday so I won't process them until I get home. Might be some time.

Great contributions so far. Good to see pancakes in all shapes and sizes!

I think I have time for some comments [:-)]

Robbie- well done on being first up!   That's clearly a high quality pancake and some well PPd photos - very natural looking. Plugged was a good find.   I still really like the dissonance of the wedding photo.   For Weser Tower, I wonder if there's an angle you could get to where the foreground is less distracting - the tower looks like it has plenty of potential for a bit of abstract.

Thornburg - nicely developed bokeh for the Rokkor portrait. B&W was a good choice.   Well focuses in the tomato photo. Maybe the foreground leaf gets in the way a little but we now have a foreground bokeh demo for that lens

Darosa - I had no idea you were a rower.   I think you were going for a semi abstract look. Maybe there is a little too much detail in a few of these (they are still obviously canoes etc). Toothless is a big success though - well spotted. (Nice swirl in the background too)

Hiro - this lens has an impressive minimum focus distance.   The metallic shine in the steel bar looks good. Perhaps the bench could have an exposure adjustment? It's quite dark.....

Pegelli - a good fun set. I rather like the way you found some bright colours to clash with the grey bricks.   Good angle with the climbing wall - it looks terrifying...

Snegren - a suitably old fashioned feeling set to go with your lens.   It seems to make a fine photo. (Maybe the top right corners are a tiny bit soft compared to the rest of the frame). The metal colours came out very well.
Jalu- that looks like a great fun street party. I suppose a pancake is a natural street lens.   I quite like the vignette in the first two. "Noon, playing in the garden #2" is priceless (and super sharp in the middle too)

Macca - I know how you feel with only two pics!   Did that boy abandon the trolley or just passing by?   Nice smooth bokeh with the lemon.

Pegelli - A delicious set!   Did you only make one pancake?
ifreedman - with the tube slide pic, maybe go mad in PP for an extra-contrasts version? The bark textures came out well.   The sunburst in the tree looks good too. Was that one stopped down(hard to remember maybe - I struggle with these manual lenses when trying to recall what the aperture was)

Hiro- a fine selection of pancakes there. Plenty of character in #1.   The door in #2 seems extra spooky for some reason (maybe from the low light source). The canon STM seems to handle well, possibly a bit warm in the WB for my taste though. (Unless the tomatoes really were that colour )

smcabbot - #1 made me smile! It's a good thing you had autofocus to get the pic before the feasting started. The pinhole lens looks fabulous! Please try again and post a few samples. Pics 4,5,6 hang together really well as a set with the sort of similar overal central perspectives.
