A pancake is a flat cake, often thin, and round, prepared from a starch-based batter that may also contain eggs, milk and butter and cooked on a hot surface such as a griddle or frying pan, often with oil or butter.

They may be served at any time with a variety of toppings or fillings including jam, fruit, syrup, chocolate chips, or meat.

Uh, when is Pancake Weekend?

I still don't own a usable pancake... unless I shoot film? I think I've still got a Rokkor 45/2 somewhere... And I don't yet have an SR->E adapter.

Technically, I've got SR->A adapters (with glass), but somehow that just feels wrong with a pancake lens...

Maybe I could grab an E adapter in time... (or maybe an Industar 50).

You have about 4 days to get sorted thornburg!

That Rokkor is a pancake, and a (collapsed) Industar 50 too. Hope to see you this weekend!

I tried a lens made from Golden Syrup a few months ago.   I don't have it any more (mm, delicious)

I'm not 100% sure my egg/flour/milk lenses will be up to the task though.    This leaves me caught a bit high and dry.   The only lenses I own that might be considered as pancakes are the SELp16-50 (too boring) and my Helios 44-2 (already had a special weekend for that lens)

Can anyone (Leo? ) recommend a cheap and plentiful suitable lens that's likely to be found in the UK on eBay in a hurry? I had a quick look at SEL20f2.8 prices and 200 quid is way more than I was hoping for.   Maybe up to GBP50 and then I'll need an adapter, I suppose.

Help!

A pancake is a cake, which leaves for makers most of possibilities - so flexible!

Wikipedia lists the 1902 Tessar as a pancake lens. Following that line of thought, my Trioplan 1:2.9 f=5.0 cm from 35 mm folder can pass as a pancake? It most certainly is tiny!

I'll take out my MD Rokkor-X 45/2. It was bought earlier this year especially for this occasion but since it's a nice little lens it has seen some good use already
You can see the April Foolishness 2023 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

Mine will be another blini = I'll be on a strict diet of Industar 50 f3.5 cakes only

As I'm visiting Scotland for work till early October, I decided not to travel with E-mount gear and just brought along some A-mount essentials, with the hope of finding a few soviet bloc classics while I'm on this side of the Atlantic.

Did some local camera shop exploring upon arrival and picked up a Zenit B with the Industar attached, from Cameratiks in Edinburgh. Plus various adapter odds and ends from Eagle & Sons in Sunderland. Of course there had to be some other Day Prime purchases as well, which I hope to show soon in the training thread!

If adapter-modding works out as planned then I'll use the "Indie 50" on my a65 for the coming party weekend. My pentax and spiratone crepes stayed home so they will have to wait till pancake party 2016 for their official weekend outings.

that Rokkor-x 45mm/2 goes for less £10-20 on eBay. Keep an eye.

On a separate note would SEL16-50 or FE35mm/2.8 count towards this? Otherwise Mike you may have some competition on ebay

And when is pancake day?

It's not a day but a whole weekend! and it's 19 + 20 September so very close now.

Mike, try the Industar 69, should be very cheap from former East European block countries. My personal experience with Polish sellers is that shipping is very fast. You'll need an Leica M39 adapter too.
Or a pinhole lens, probably well available from UK sellers.
Or a Lomo 40mm, you'll need an M39 adapter for that too.

if you can find an adapter you need on Amazon and eligible for next-day a prime delivery I might be able to help.

So what counts as a pancake lens?

Something that looks rather short on the original camera?
