Another fine week Howard. I'm particularly intrigued by the Planet Headington image and your comment:
There were two coaches, both driven by red blooded lunatics and they travelled at speed nose to tail, and we were in the rear one looking out of the front windows. We coped by drinking a couple of bottles of Portuguese wine and sleeping for most of the time. The final leg was a cargo ferry from Le Harve to Portsmouth and we had to rough it wherever we could find a place to sit. Nightmare ![]() |

I had five people from our office in Brussels stuck in Houston after a meeting there at at that time, four of them came back on the first transatlantic flight to Amsterdam. Still to avoid the ash cloud the plane followed a very southerly course over Spain and the flight took ~2 hours more than normal. The fifth colleague didn't dare to take the first flight and waited until the first landed safely and left a day later. Unusual times that were indeed. |

Week 17
A Creative ![]() All Souls towers| A7 III and FE 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G OSS | f/8.0 | @ 70.0 mm | 1/320s | ISO 250 A simple black and white conversion of the East range of towers at All Souls, designed by Hawksmoor. The lens is new to me and replaces the (adapted) Tamron SP 70-300 for A-mount, which has developed a distinct whine in its ultra silent drive. Edited by Howard_S - 22 April 2022 at 13:55 |

![]() The White Hart Minolta XD7 | Rokkor 50mm f/1.4 | Kodak Color Plus 200 ISO On this week in 2011 I was participating in a Dyxum film challenge, using a Rokkor 50/1.4 on a Minolta XD-7. Proper job, as they say in my part of the world. |

Week 18
A: Creative ![]() St David's cathedral | A7 III and FE 28mm F2 | f/8.0 | 1/250s | ISO 100 I'm just back from a week in St David's and will have plenty of photos to share in due course. This is a three-vertical-frame panoarama, converted to monochrome and then gently treated with some colour in Lightroom. Edited by Howard_S - 01 May 2022 at 23:07 |

![]() Llama strikes a pose | NEX-3 and E 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS | f/9.0 | @ 55.0 mm | 1/500s | ISO 200 In April/May 2012 I was on holiday in Peru, a subject I visited in some depth during lockdown. Here we are on the way back from the Colca Canyon to Arequipo, and a llama strikes an heroic pose by the roadside. Edited by Howard_S - 01 May 2022 at 23:06 |

![]() Trewynhyrddyn | A7 III and FE 28mm F2 with Ultra Wide Converter | f/9.0 | @ 21.0 mm | 1/125s | ISO 100 Back to Pembrokeshire and a lovely view of a headland, with a to-me unpronounceable name, from the path to St David's Head at Whitesands. Two frames stitched together and cropped to Cinemascope / 64:27 format. Edited by Howard_S - 01 May 2022 at 23:16 |

Week 19
A: Creative ![]() St Non's footpath A5000 and E PZ 16-50 OSS | f/9.0 | @ 16.0 mm | 1/80s | ISO 100 I rather liked the dense swirl of hedgerow here, walking down to St Non's cliffs from St Davids (St Non is the mother of St David and it is said she lived with the child near this spot). A simple black and white conversion here, and a distant figure to trap the eye. Edited by Howard_S - 11 May 2022 at 23:21 |

![]() East window NEX-7 and E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 OSS | f/6.3 | @ 55.0 mm | 1/125 s | ISO 100 In this week nine years ago I was in a small church in Oxfordshire (Longworth) admiring an Arts and Craft stained glass window by Heywood Sumner. Pevsner says there are 'vines rising', but I was told in the church that the plants are hops, which used to be grown nearby. I like the rainbow across the top of the window, pulling it all together. |

![]() Whitesands Bay A7 III and FE 28mm F2 with Ultra Wide Converter (= 21mm) | f/10.0 | 21.0 mm | 1/400 s | ISO 100 The next few weeks in this challenge may well feature photographs from Pembrokeshire as I have not had many opportunities to get out since I returned, and I have a backlog to process. This view of the bay just beyond the headland in last week's Prime photo, taken here with the same ultra wide kit. |
