I agree Howard, and well renovated and maintained. Unfortunately no public access.

Fort Oelegem. Is there no end to the amazing WWII structures in Belgium? Another excellent capture of the entire structure, and with fine reflections too.

Thanks Brian, it's a pre WW1 structure (~1904) that basically never worked as intended since warfare changed a lot with the development of new technology at the start of and during WW1. But these structures were so strong that they are all basically still intact after ~120 years, despite the lack of maintenance. It's now a bat reserve with several rare/protected species hybernating there during the winter month.
Week 11 - Architecture Entrance to the Zoersel Town Hall, originally built as a psychiatric hospital (or nut-house as it was called locally). Given the chaotic state of local politics I wonder if the current occupants are really any smarter than the original ones this was built for ![]() ![]() A7ii + Tamron FE 20/2.8 Di III OSD Week 11 - Landscape Sunrise at a local pond ![]() A7ii + LA-EA4 + beercan Week 11 - Closeup/Macro Butterfly ![]() A700 + Sigma 180/3.5 telemacro |

Week 12 - Architecture
The Ruien in Antwerp ![]() A7ii + FE 24-70/4 CZ The Ruien were originally open canals built in the middle ages and used as waterways and defense structure of the city, later to save space they were covered and became sewers and around 1960 they were emptied and all houses connected to the sewer pipes you see against the walls. The only water running through the open gutters now is ground water seeping in and rain water draining from the streets. But the sewer pipes still have vents to avoid gas pressure build up, so the smell down there is not entirely neutral ![]() Week 12 - Landscape Two horses, framed by nature ![]() A7ii + OM Zuiko 85/2, LR pano of two handheld shots Week 12 - Closeup/Macro Amaryllis ![]() A700 + Sigma 180/3.5 telemacro, Helicon focus stack of 7 photo's |

I like your first shot there Pieter, the sweeping driveway and the round lawn add an interesting shape to the Castle. (Now regretting NZ's lack of castles to photograph).
The Amarylis shot is also a striking flower image. You are very good at composition with flowers |

That amaryllis photo captures the decay perfectly; good use of high key for such a low-key outcome.

Thanks for the comments gentlemen, Wētāpunga, I would have liked a little more room below to show more of the driveway but unfortunately my framing was too tight

Another good set there Pieter.
I think the black-and-white treatment of the derelict farmhouse is effective, and I like the overall composition. You've found a strong leading line to draw the eye into the image. The cherry blossoms look good also, the lighting is effective and the background is so defocused it makes the blossoms 'pop' out. |
