Of course you have!
I wonder just how *many* lenses and cameras you have in your collection now?

Good question. One day I might even find out.

Phil, my problem is more one of organisation than accrual of glass. Across all the mounts I probably do have around 50 lenses ... it's just finding them that gets hard!

Wetapunga - thank you. One was picture of the week in the 750th exhibition, which brought me joy.

Right, I'd better get started ...

Hi Howard

Sounds like you have a plan. For what it is worth, some of those Peru shots were pretty amazing so I think your challenge last year was pretty successful there

Hi @Howard_S

I've been pondering as well (on themes).
I'm thinking of 3 themes.

1. A telephoto theme. (This would let me give the Tamron 150-500 some use this year, and if I'm struggling, squeeze in a shot of the cats with a 135mm or 85mm).
2. A scenic theme- which I would like to stretch to include seascapes, landscapes and other objects/structures that are, well, scenic. I'm hoping seascapes will dominate.
3. A creative theme- this may only be black-and-white, but there's more I want to try with HDR, Panoramas, and even video.

In addition I'm going to give myself 12 wild cards. Shots that I like, but don't fit neatly into any of the themes above.

Some good thoughts there.

I felt I was suffering a little last year working through unedited archive photos (a few thousand!), but it was good for lock down. I tired of my creative ultra wide aspect ratio theme, and the vintage digital theme was supported a great deal by my wading through those Peru photos!

So, for 2022 I will try to produce 50 shots in each of three areas

- 'creative' (new-to-me techniques, etc., including video and multi-frame prints, and film (best of 1/3 keepers in the film challenge)
- 'from this week' - a delve into the archive for photos taken in the current week, but already processed by me (and usually available on Flickr)
- 'prime lens', new photos taken with primes. I'm not sure I can do 50 different lenses in the year (I don't even know if I have 50 lenses!), but I'll aim to produce something every week, the focus being on the photo rather than a lens review - Phil does that so well!

I may not follow strict week numbers (especially with this late start) but I intend to keep up with the best of you in due course.

Good idea Pieter. I might class Week 1 as January 4 to 12 (as the 3rd was statutory holiday here), Week 2 as 10-17, Week 3 January 18-24 and so on.

An extended, overlapping Week 1 seems justified given the patchy start to the challenge. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s images.

I liberally called week 1 jan 1 - 9 and then run all the following weeks from monday to monday. I would just say pick whatever suits you and run with it.
You can see the April Foolishness 2022 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

So are we counting Week 1 as starting on 3 January or starting on 10 January this year? Or should we pick a start date that isn’t Monday? If it was a Saturday we could have begun on the 8th.

I've loved my tele-theme in 2021. Great to take it out on weekly basis & so many keepers came out of it

I haven't really come up with a plan for a new 150 challenge, but as I don't do the other challenges very often I think I ought to come up with something. I'm still pondering.
