@Phil Wood - your lens extravaganza has been one of the highlights of the challenge.

Thanks Wētāpunga, glad you're enjoying it. It's been nice to do something that makes a tiny bit of sense of my mission to put together a complete collection of Minolta AF lenses. ...

It's also been fun comparing some of the lenses you've tried with ones I've owned in the past. I hope you succeed in your mission to get a complete collection!

Keep up the great work, folks!

Ah, I'd wondered why you had dropped off the posting. My original plan was there should be one evening (or maybe morning) every weekend I could go off and take photos somewhere. And if not, with some lighting and a product table in my office, I could stage something at least one lunchtime per week.

It all presupposed I would a) have a car b) if I had a car I was allowed to travel and c) if I had a car, and could travel, I'd have the time. Meeting all 3 of those conditions turned out to be less straightforward than i expected!

Only 6 out of 51 zooms to go, but 24 out of 43 primes - it isn't going to happen. Though I see I could buy both 600/4s on ebay from Japan for only £6350 (plus 20% VAT, £300 p&p & tax collection fees) - about £8,000 (16,000 NZD), way more than I've spent on the entire collection to date.

If I ever announce I have the complete set you'll know I've won big on the lottery.

Is it okay to also post some of our Photo150 challenge photos in the themed views also?

I fear that our little challenge isn't getting much exposure and was wondering if Dyxum etiquette allowed for double-posting in this case.

Agree.
I do share my 150 shots in other themed views.

Thanks @onsplekkie, I got almost instant feedback when I posted a flower shot, so yeah, your system of sharing seems sound.

I've been a bit busy; shooting not a problem, posting a bit more trouble some....
Surely overtime I'll find a way to finish this challenge up before the end of the year

crossposting my shot, now most of them, if you click on them, it takes the viewer directly to my 150-Weeks-post

I just posted my week 49, almost there, 1 more week to go.

COVID prevented long vacations so I had no need for a 1 or 2 week break so I'll end the challenge in week 50. I'll stop now for a few weeks and then see if and when I take on a different "long term" challenge next year.

It's nice to see many others nearing completion as well. How do you all feel about something similar next year? Continue? Change? Stop? or ....?

Well done @pegelli

I think with the break I took when my uncle died and my car got stolen is going to put me behind the 150 mark.

I think I'd be prepared to give the challenge another go next year, assuming it is more settled than this year I suspect I would have found it a bit easier if there wasn't the chaos generated by Covid19 and other events.

And at least. I've become very good at focus stacking as a result of the challenge

There have been weeks when completing all three elements of the challenge I set myself was a real challenge especially when on other pic-a-day challenges (and I failed a few times). All in all I found the commitment to post something every week useful - and it was nice to shoot seriously with all my Minota zooms, a number of which had not been used beyond an initial trial. I may continue this element beyond Week 50 - there are a couple more Sony zooms I'd like to include in this survey.

Would I do it again - yes. However, I think my self-challenge would be less ambitious, just taking and posting three images a week is challenging enough.

I took advantage of the lockdown to get through something I should have done years ago, i .e. process and edit photos from holidays. I’m glad I did it, but it felt like a slog at times. The ‘vintage digital’ felt a bit strained some weeks, and I had to rely on my holiday stockpile quite often. I’ve enjoyed exploring the ultra wide aspect ratio theme, but I’m not convinced the display limits of Dyxum (1024px on the long side) do the photos justice.

I’m thinking about what I might do next year - a weekly commitment is all right, but whether I can manage three themes I’m not so sure.

Well I’m prepared to admit that I failed miserably in this challenge. I did survive until week 29 so at least I got beyond the half way stage

Congratulations to all of you approaching the finish line, I enjoyed following your personal journeys.

It was the workflow of processing and formatting my pictures, loading them up to my host and posting them in Dyxum every week, with thumbnail links that put the lid on it for me, too much in what turned out to be a very challenging year in itself.

But for 2022 I do plan to still enter some challenges, just not a marathon for a bit

@Phil Wood - I've sad it before, but I think your lens theme was one of the highlights of the challenge.

I also agree that the self-challenge/themes in the end, was a bit ambitious. I originally envisaged being able to pop to a beach about once a week to get a seascape or similar. That ambition was easily frustrated by events.

Three new shots per week, with no constraints, seems a more feasible goal.

@bonneville

Well, the point I guess of the 150 challenge, is that it is a challenge. I would have liked to have go in 150 shots too, but I have also failed. If it was going to be easy to achieve, it wouldn't have been much of a challenge. Hopefully, this time we've learned enough to make the next one more successful
