So are we counting Week 1 as starting on 3 January or starting on 10 January this year? Or should we pick a start date that isn’t Monday? If it was a Saturday we could have begun on the 8th.

I liberally called week 1 jan 1 - 9 and then run all the following weeks from monday to monday. I would just say pick whatever suits you and run with it.

Good idea Pieter. I might class Week 1 as January 4 to 12 (as the 3rd was statutory holiday here), Week 2 as 10-17, Week 3 January 18-24 and so on.
An extended, overlapping Week 1 seems justified given the patchy start to the challenge. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s images. |

Some good thoughts there. I felt I was suffering a little last year working through unedited archive photos (a few thousand!), but it was good for lock down. I tired of my creative ultra wide aspect ratio theme, and the vintage digital theme was supported a great deal by my wading through those Peru photos! So, for 2022 I will try to produce 50 shots in each of three areas - 'creative' (new-to-me techniques, etc., including video and multi-frame prints, and film (best of 1/3 keepers in the film challenge) - 'from this week' - a delve into the archive for photos taken in the current week, but already processed by me (and usually available on Flickr) - 'prime lens', new photos taken with primes. I'm not sure I can do 50 different lenses in the year (I don't even know if I have 50 lenses!), but I'll aim to produce something every week, the focus being on the photo rather than a lens review - Phil does that so well! I may not follow strict week numbers (especially with this late start) but I intend to keep up with the best of you in due course. |

Hi Howard
Sounds like you have a plan. For what it is worth, some of those Peru shots were pretty amazing so I think your challenge last year was pretty successful there |

Phil, my problem is more one of organisation than accrual of glass. Across all the mounts I probably do have around 50 lenses ... it's just finding them that gets hard!
Wetapunga - thank you. One was picture of the week in the 750th exhibition, which brought me joy. Right, I'd better get started ... |

Okay, I give in! I'll join up for this.
I have many interests and am still working past the nominal state retirement age so I have less daylight time free this time of year than some. I've also got a bit browned off with photography over the last year (hence the lack of pictures posted) but this looks like a good way of kick-starting it - if I can keep it up! ![]() Thanks to Dcap for the idea, Pegelli for running it, and Howard_S and others for some inspiring suggestions. I'm a bit late starting so if it's acceptable, I'll have to run a bit behind until I catch up. My thoughts are to include:- 1. Telephoto (especially the longer ones that don't get much use) 2 Prime (including macro & semi-macro) 3. Archive (previously unpublished anywhere) I hope to include subjects I wouldn't normally take (including portraits, architecture and b/w) in order to expand my photography out of the rut it's got into lately, and to use at least one different lens each week (I'm pretty sure I have more than 50 if I include adapted lenses (I've actually reviewed 50 on Dyxum), and I can always pick images from lenses I no longer have for the archive ![]() The archive pics may include some early non-A/E-mount pics because I had a lot of digital compacts before getting into Sony, and some film transfers if I can get the processes sorted for print and slides. I started photography somewhere around 1970 (with a Zeiss Ikon folding camera!) and the early pics are probably not worth looking at, but we'll see. Maybe I'll include one or two b/w my father took with his Periflex and Miranda F, which will give me an excuse to look through them. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration guys and I'll try to keep up, even if there are a few delays in posting with holidays/work issues. |

Welcome to the challenge @Miranda_F. I found for some periods last year it really was a lot of fun. 3 shots per week isn’t that ambitious but it’s enough to keep you thinking and taking shots each week. The general themes you’ve suggested are smart. Also some of the photos the others take can be inspiring.
I can’t see any problem with starting a bit late. |

Great. Just uploaded the first pics of 2022 onto the PC. Hope to take some more today as the sun has graced us with its presence after a month of hiding. |
