Art's Project 150 Plans -- 2 new shots, 1 archive (generally > 10 years old)

Here is my process:

-------------------
**1) Sunday Night prior to the week
Pick a theme/topic/plan. For Week 1, I selected "new beginnings" to start the new year. My themes will be random, maybe they repeat? My goal is to be flexible. I do not want this project to become a chore. For me, it should be meditation!! I want to use more of my gear, shoot with intent, enjoy the process.

**2) Dig through my archives
The goal here is to better organize my images, with the goal of unlocking old photos that have not seen the light of the Internet. With luck, they fit the theme. If not, no big deal.

**3) Shoot new, research old
If I shoot film, these shots will lag a few weeks.

**4) Post to Twitter when I get a chance -- my Twitter handle: @ArtWong128

**5) Post to Instagram when I get a chance -- my Instagram handle: @ArtWong128

**6) Post to Dyxum when I get a chance. You know my Dyxum handle

**7) Post to my historically lightly used blog
With luck, my Project 150 gets me to post to my blog more regularly.

You can find my blog here -- Art in LA. My blog is best viewed on desktop. Google/Blogger needs to fix some bugs for Mobile.

**8) A quick update to my process ... starting around Week 15, I have evolved my project to either posting three new shots a week, or digging into the archives and posting three archive shots. This is just easier to manage for me. I hope you still enjoy taking a look!

Good to see and an interesting version too.
Theme one is clever and really open - could also be hard to think something up.

There is a weekly challenge on 01-Feb which might work for week 5
It is challenge your creativity
(shooting one specific object for 7 days)

I'm gonna do a once-a-week blog post (from Feb) giving a little background into the images I've selected.

Here are my Week 1 Photo 150 set. I'll be posting more than 3 this week. I chose "New Beginnings" as my theme for this first week since we're just kicking of the new year.

**Old and New -- bought my first skateboard for myself in decades. I've bought boards for my kids, but this one is for me. The old one is a time capsule! I hope I don't break any bones.

A6400 + Sony 16-70

**Skateboard product shot -- I love this low angle.

A6400 + Sony 16-70

**Succulent -- focused on the new growth

A700 + Tamron 90 macro

**Archive shots, the start of my organizing project for 2021. These are scanned from prints(!) I made in Art 70 at Stanford University, Fall 1985. I have the negatives somewhere, but scanning the prints was easier this time around. I wish I could tell you who Stanford was playing that day. #AllRightNow #FearTheTree

Minolta XE-7 + Rokkor 50 1.4 ... not sure of the film, probably Tri-X 400

Wow, the track width of the wheels on your new scateboard look a lot less wide, that will probably make some differences, start off with less stability but once you mastered it more flexibility. But be careful!

Nice B&W photo's, I think for web size scanning prints or negatives doesn't make a big difference, but if you want to print them a bit larger the negatives will yield a lot more quality. They reminded me of a 1980 Army football game I attended at Westpoint (also can't remember who they played) that I attended when doing an intern job in the Newark/Linden area. I think I still have colour slides from the event, need to look them up and scan them but they're not Minolta.

@pegelli, yes, the old board was more of a pool set up (not that I ever could do that!). The new board is more right sized for street riding, a mini-cruiser style different from what most kids ride, the double kicktail style. Yes, I will be incredibly careful to start. I have not ridden regularly in many years!!

I didn't know you lived here in the States for a bit.

@Howard_S ... thanks. Yes, definitely a different era. It has been really fun digging around through my archives and boxes. Even mundane shots stir up great memories!! That's a key reason I shoot, memory making.

@mikey2000, yes, thanks. I am going to tread very lightly on the skateboard at first for sure. That 2nd crowd pic has been one of my all-time favorites. The professor of my class had us print the full-frame of our 35mm negatives. She didn't like the bits of the tops of folks' heads along the bottom edge. I don't mind, but agree, the shot is not perfect. Definitely an awesome timestamp for me.

@dCap, a little forward planning is going to make this project a lot easier!! As I see other people's pictures here, I'll add to my list. Some weeks may be event driven, depending upon the calendar. For example, local US holidays may lead to a theme. We'll see.
