My notes on Week 15 photos:

W15P1 garage spider
This is a poor shot by any macro standards but it is personal for me as I spent ages puzzling over how soft the image was. Mr (or Mrs, no gender bias here) spider was high up in the corner of my integral garage and I knew that if I told my wife she would freak out until I had humanely removed it, preferrably several miles away. So I quietly set up a step ladder and fired off a few images, thinking that it would scurry away when I pointed my lens close enough for a 1:1 shot. But it stayed put and I uploaded and viewed the images on my MacBook and was puzzled why everyone was soft. I did a reshoot and Mr/Ms spider was still there and again at varying aperture and shutter speed settings I couldn't get a sharp image. Until it dawned on me that the spider was actually stood on its own thick web and I was shooting under it

Curious why it hadn't packed up and moved on I also discovered that it was dead

W15P2 Danger of Death
This was on my usual morning dogs walk at Twyford Woods airfield last week and the log stacks were very much higher earlier in the month, hence the sign. I did consider changing the sign to read a more appropriate, "Danger of Minor Bumps and Splinters", but the senior citizen in me thought better of it

W15P3 Vatnajokull glacier, Iceland, February 2017
Sadly, yet again this is not a particularly good photograph but it is a record of my first encounter with a glacier, close up and personal. Apart from the obvious colouring issues, the problem for me is the lack of scale without anything to reference. In fact the wall of ice at the waters edge was the height of city office and hotel buildings. It was a long way off comparatively and if you look at the wall about a quarter way in from the right you can see a disturbance. While we were standing there a large section slip into the water, with a very loud crashing noise and the wave it generate caused us to grab our kit and run for it before we were swamped with icy cold water!

Iceland is a wonderfully beautiful country but is showing distinct signs of giving up a lot of its ice to warmer temperatures. Indeed we visited in February and found we were often over dressed for the spring like weather we experienced during our stay.

TFL. I thought I'd add a few comments this time, for context sake, but your comments are more important and always welcome

I particularly like the Sibelius monument ... were you tempted to do a B&W treatment?

@Howard_S. Thank you Howard. I did do a conversion to B&W, it is still in my LR folder, but didn’t seem to work so well as the sky tended to merge with the tubes rather than contrast them. You are welcome to give it a try though as there are many mono styles that might work better than my clumsy attempt

@Wētāpunga. Many thanks for your kind comment.

I've just been reading this project's "rules" and I could find no mention of changes to our plans part-way through the challenge, so I am going to cut myself a bit of slack and re-label my Project 2 - Photos taken with the Sony RX100iii. There are two reasons for this. 1) the RX100 is a wonderful little pocket camera, but isn't really a true Dyxum camera, i.e. A-mount or E-mount, and 2) I have several "Dyxum" cameras and plenty of lenses that are not getting the use I should like them to have.

Therefore, with effect from my Week 19 set I shall end the current Project 2 and start Week 20 with a new Project 2: Whatever comes to hand . This may include my film cameras or my stereoscopic cameras or most likely my a7iii. Hopefully this change will enable me to shoot a few more inspired photographs that will even more hopefully generate a little more interest

Hope that's okay.

Good idea. I think we should be as flexible as we want as truly, we are only ones doing this, for ourselves and to share. I think my only rule that I have is that everyone continue, in some capacity and continue to share because I've really enjoyed everyone sharing their archives.

Yes, I wouldn't call it slack, just flexibility. My Peru project ran out of photos from that trip so as a contrast I am now working through Orkney and the Western Isles from four years ago. When that's done, and if there's time I might look at another trip languishing in the archives. I need an assistant!
