Week 01 - Theme 3 - Lockdown Snapshots (2021)
::: Bench & Sand ::: ![]() iPhoneSE2 - Auto ISO (125) - 3.99mm - f1.8 - 1/60s Shot this week on an iPhoneSE2 (SE 2020). This is my first ever iPhone, bought a few days before xmas 2020. Shot is straight out of camera, just sized for the internets. I've mentioned in a couple of posts that I live in a place where sand is an issue - here is an example of what I mean. This is a 2 minute walk from my front door. Edited by dCap - 16 January 2021 at 23:02 |

On Twitter, I thought that sand shot was a snow shot!! Keep up the energy!

I'm trying to think where this might be, but I appreciate you might not wish to reveal that. I'm guessing the south west or West Wales, or perhaps even Norfolk ...

The bench - Ryde Harbour/Marina, Isle of Wight - I can see my block of flats from where that shot was taken. I am mostly super secretive online ... but I'm also gonna start shooting a 'show us your cities' the day lockdown v3 is lifted! So, yeah. Ryde. Moved here a year and a bit ago. One day (during this Project 150) I'll show the marvelous view I have of Portsmouth/Gunwalf from across the Solent. If you see someone with rubber inner tubes on his tripod walking out at low tide at night time shooting a long exposure (that'll be me). I am known on the beach as 'welly boot man'. Hiking boots aren't up to the job! |

I recognise the smile of that selfie Chris, might be you posted that or a similar photo many years ago. And I like the sand/bench photo, and with a bit of PP you can easily make it look more like snow, which is what I thought when I first saw the thumbnail. But I think with sand it's more impressive to describe the environment you live in.

Very nice. They say that the Isle of Wight is a bit like a C20 timewarp. Ideal place to fish out that Minolta XE-7 and Rokkor lens to practice your photography ...

Thanks for coming up with the idea for this challenge, dCap. I've seen some good strong starts and the mad selfie is very entertaining launch for your set :-)

When I vaccum my flat/apartment - the bedroom window sill has sand on it (inside). There is sand EVERYWHERE! I also hoover the inside of my camera bag and the inside of my coat pockets. Before I lived 'at the seaside' I would not believe this!
The selfie refresh - brace for impact - there are a couple of really quite disturbing images to follow later in the year. They worry me. And I shot them. And, they are also, well, of me! Something a physiatrist would probably enjoy talking to me about. I'll admit none of these were re-edited. And that is the main part of my Archive plan, but am catching up with the organizing bit before playing with sliders and re-visiting them properly. As a lazy start these were just openers. I did adjust the FishEye shot a little yesterday. But the iPhone might stay as SOOC until my website is ready, then the iPhone shot will be ONE shot edited/adjusted/tweaked. Enjoying it already - and ready to delve into Archive again tomorrow for a look see. |

Good start dCap!
Fisheye is the lens I miss in native FE mount. Yes I have other fisheyes, the Minolta included, but I would like one without adapter. |

choice is limited (for) now ... Samyang 12/2.8 fish in FE is on my radar (I'm kinda glad that - today being day 16 - the prime days will move on from the fish now!) |

Was planning to be here posting my next 2-3 images (right now).
But my brand new (Tuesday this week) monitor fritzed and is now back at the store. My iPhone snapshot was gonna be my newly designed standing desk (with new monitor), but I can swap that shot out for something relevant instead. 'Luckily' this store is open until 9pm (and housed inside a large food shop), so that is a double legit reason to be outside (returning office equipment and hunting for food). Although I have to re-order the replacement from home and then collect as they got pushed into non-essential store type?! Or I could not bother and just use my laptop screen?. I had an aim to be 'desktop' and spinning drive free soon. So might use this omen to keep my compute minimal (my laptop screen is pretty amazing, for a PC). Might settle in for a mini-edit this evening anyway. Gonna change my thumbnail style a bit tomorrow. |

Is that lens FF? And if so not a dslr version with “built in adapter” ie just making it longer instead of designed for Mirrorless? |

it says it is 180' on full-frame https://www.wexphotovideo.com/samyang-12mm-f28-ed-as-ncs-fisheye-lens-sony-e-1566849/ but yes, it is also available for Canon dSLR so is the same design (also the stock product shot of the lens is identical to the Canon dSLR version, so wonder what it actually looks like as it'll probably be a bit more elongate in FE mount - or any mirrorless mount) |

Week 02 - Theme 1 - Digital Archive A Mount (2005-7)
::: Paris from Notre Dame ::: ![]() KonicaMinolta Dynax 7D ~ 28mm ~ ISO 200 ~ f4 ~ 1/250 Shot on 13-Jan-2006 (15 years ago this week). Taken from one of the stair cases leading to the top of Notre Dame. When this place caught fire in 2019 I remembered this specific frame and wondered if these gargoyles survived. I've been viewing quite a few black-and-white images elsewhere this week and have remembered my love of monochrome. I should challenge myself to a week or a month (or longer) in mono sometime. EDIT - correction 2006 (not 2005) Edited by dCap - 22 January 2021 at 22:17 |
